Sea smoke. When the temperature falls below -10F/-23C or so, Superior looks like that. This shot was taken Jan 2025 and the air temp was -15F or so with some nasty wind gusts making it feel a hell of a lot colder. This was maybe 20 miles north of Split Rock Lighthouse.
