Faedom Week

Just a little sketch of my favorite tree boy and my favorite fire boy. Playing with a cartoon-y style, based on a little doodle of one Very Flustered Tree Boy that I did a few months ago (Below) .

Ignore the mesa of my kitchen and my friends hand, but finally finished my Day 7 project for Faedom Week. I have had this in my head for a while. Inspired by Unwound, which is probably my favorite canon extra by @not-poignant. @faedom-week

I am despairing of my writing right now, so here is at least one contribution to @faedom-week Day 7: Free Day

Eran and Professor Mosk from Ten Minutes and Ten Minutes More - Cobbled together from Guild Wars 2 Screenshots. Now who of you plays Mosk Manytrees on there?

‘Blankets?’ Eran said.

Mosk felt nervous. He walked over and placed both of his hands on one of them. It was incredibly soft and didn’t feel like any normal fabric. Tiny threads glistened in the light and he tipped it back and forth. It was orange and red, and then magenta and violet.

‘There’s no fire in here,’ Mosk said. ‘And everything is blue and green. I know it’s not a fire, or a fireplace…’

‘I like these,’ Eran said. ‘A lot. And you got them for me?’

When Eran looked at him, Mosk couldn’t move and was fairly certain he couldn’t breathe either. He sat there, locked up, unable to say a single word. He’d wanted Eran to like them, but the weight of Eran’s attention was a lot, and as Eran waited for him to reply, Mosk forced himself to stare down at the ground.

‘Maybe,’ Mosk said, his voice strained.

He flinched hard when he felt fingers in his hair, but after only pausing, Eran didn’t withdraw. Instead Eran’s fingers – so warm – dug down until they could rest against his scalp, the pressure firm enough that Mosk didn’t cringe. But he couldn’t look up either.

‘Thank you,’ Eran said. ‘Really.’

‘Whatever.’

Eran laughed, and Mosk hated that he was laughing at how Mosk was behaving. He should have left them by Eran’s door. He shouldn’t have done this at all. He swallowed and shrugged, and Eran’s fingers tightened and moved Mosk’s head up until Mosk had no choice but to look at his face.

‘Thank you,’ Eran said again.

Mosk jerked free, yanking his hair out of Eran’s hand, and he stood up, rubbing his upper arms. He felt shivery and his skin crawled.

‘I just- It’s stupid. I know it’s not fire.’

‘I know that too,’ Eran said patiently. ‘I still like them.’

So this is a work in progress that is for @not-poignant , based on the blanket scene in chapter one of The Ice Plague: The Seething Seas.

This is a fire tapestry/textile collage. I know it's not exactly how Pia described it, but my mind latched onto the idea of a fire - themed tapestry and wouldn't let it go.

All said and done this will measure about three and a half feet by three and a half feet. I've already started doing some hand embroidery on it, and I plan to do some beading on it as well.

I'm enjoying making this piece so much! I love doing involved mixed media projects. 😊

Faedom Week Day7: Free Day

So, this is the art I actually drew for Technical Challeng, as I mentioned in yesterday’s post. Seventh sons of seventh sons. Since it’s always challenging for me to draw characters I’ve never drawn. It was difficult, but I enjoyed doing it a lot. :)

Lastly, I’d like to thank Pia @not-poignant, who created this wonderful world, and the people @faedom-week who arranged this Faedom Week. Thank you so much for making my week better. <3

This is very short and extremely stupid, but I realized six days had gone by and I didn’t make any dumb meme, and it was unacceptable. So this is my very last minute project for day seven, because Anything Goes!!

Faedom Week Day Six: Technical Challenge

Well…. It’s a smol Raven Prince! This summer I started learning how to crochet, and a few weeks later the prompts for faedom week were announced, and I knew what I had to do…

I gave him a little rapier because why the hell not, it’s cute XD

For today, I was going to post some art I’ve already done, but I changed my mind. I wrote a tiny piece of fic. Probably this looks more like a challenge, after all! I haven’t written any fic in English for (literally) ages, and I would appreciate it if you would go easy on me. (You know, Japanese people are infamous for their English…)

This is a dark angsty Augus/Gwyn drabble. Please consider not reading it, if you think you don’t like that sort of stuff. I don’t want to spoil your weekend. All mistakes are mine. (Ah, this is familiar, since I used to post drabbles on LJ.)

It’s a pocket Gwyn! Holding a sugar cube (nobody has recognized it yet. But I like my cronch-able sugar cubes brown)! Haven’t done any sculpting (except like once when i made oversized dnd minis bcs i didn’t know how tiny they were supposed to be. the goat was kickass tho) and most was done with the method of let’s see what works. Also the method of forgetting to clean my hands inbetween colors hence he’s a little dirty but I doubt Gwyn would mind. I’d like to dedicate this to Pia for the amazing encouragements they have given me, sometimes featuring a pocket Gwyn. May pocket Gwyn feed you sugar cubes forever.

(of the day when i was supposed to post this: day 3 - family :D :D) It came to me in the shower and I don’t know what it is, but under the cut is a short expansion of the most badass line ever said by Gwyn - “I missed the dogs”.

Faedom Week Day 5: Nostalgia

The Wildness Within was the very first Fae Tales story I’ve read, so it can’t get any more nostalgic than this.

Chapter 27: “Lesson Four: Magic” is one of my favourite chapters, not only in TWW, but in all of Pia’s works. The atmosphere is peaceful and enchanting, the magic training is fascinating, and The Raven Prince is at his very best, most charming and patient behavior. The moment Gwyn realizes he has a talent for making charms fills me with joy and wonder every time I reread the chapter, and his desire to create something for Augus leads to what is, in my opinion, probably the sweetest scene in the whole story.

I know this is not what the crystals he charms wouldn’t look like this, but I tried to imagine what a visual representation of what Gwyn feels/hears around charms would be, so that I could make this little tribute to the scene.

Say 4: Green

for @not-poignant , their character Gwyn is just the best and deserves so much. a quiet moment of nourishing his heart song. 

This took me far too long to draw. I learned a lot doing it but still have such a long way to go. Hope you enjoy it Pia

Summary: Ash and Gwyn are happily mellow, and Augus comes back to talk to them about what’s been bothering Gwyn lately.

‘He’s been going through a lot lately.’ Ash looked at Gwyn. 'Haven’t you?’

'No,’ Gwyn said. But his voice was evasive, and Augus sighed.

He was pushing himself too hard, as he so often did. Even Augus hadn’t been able to stop him this time, which made him think something else lurked beneath.

'It’s nothing,’ Gwyn said.

'We talked a little about his childhood today,’ Ash said. 'Didn’t we?’

'No,’ Gwyn said, sounding sulky now, but he calmed as Augus stroked his flank.

Pretty Tree Boy TM

There’s two items I want to make a point to discuss:

     1. NSFW Art: When posting NSFW art for Faedom Week, please make it “tumblr safe” -  cover up anything that might be flagged by tumblr’s new guidelines, and link to your preferred website for a full shot of your artwork. 

Why? This is so we can keep the Faedom Week blog from being flagged as an explicit blog. This label is permanent and removes Faedom Week from searches, among other things. This would mean the end of the blog. We also don’t want anyone’s artwork to be flagged and therefore unable to be enjoyed. It is for these reasons we cannot reblog explicit artwork unless it is “tumblr safe”.

     2. Tagging: As you all know, we track #faedom week for posts. Under the circumstances that you think we may have missed your post, please send us a direct message with a link to your original post so we may reblog it as soon as possible.
