Faedom Week Day Six: Technical Challenge
āBlankets?ā Eran said.
Mosk felt nervous. He walked over and placed both of his hands on one of them. It was incredibly soft and didnāt feel like any normal fabric. Tiny threads glistened in the light and he tipped it back and forth. It was orange and red, and then magenta and violet.
āThereās no fire in here,ā Mosk said. āAnd everything is blue and green. I know itās not a fire, or a fireplaceā¦ā
āI like these,ā Eran said. āA lot. And you got them for me?ā
When Eran looked at him, Mosk couldnāt move and was fairly certain he couldnāt breathe either. He sat there, locked up, unable to say a single word. Heād wanted Eran to like them, but the weight of Eranās attention was a lot, and as Eran waited for him to reply, Mosk forced himself to stare down at the ground.
āMaybe,ā Mosk said, his voice strained.
He flinched hard when he felt fingers in his hair, but after only pausing, Eran didnāt withdraw. Instead Eranās fingers ā so warm ā dug down until they could rest against his scalp, the pressure firm enough that Mosk didnāt cringe. But he couldnāt look up either.
āThank you,ā Eran said. āReally.ā
Eran laughed, and Mosk hated that he was laughing at how Mosk was behaving. He should have left them by Eranās door. He shouldnāt have done this at all. He swallowed and shrugged, and Eranās fingers tightened and moved Moskās head up until Mosk had no choice but to look at his face.
āThank you,ā Eran said again.
Mosk jerked free, yanking his hair out of Eranās hand, and he stood up, rubbing his upper arms. He felt shivery and his skin crawled.
āI just- Itās stupid. I know itās not fire.ā
āI know that too,ā Eran said patiently. āI still like them.ā

( The video below does a much better job of capturing the way this sparkles:
Rainbow Whimsy's fire tapestry )
So this is a work in progress that is for @not-poignant , based on the blanket scene in chapter one of The Ice Plague: The Seething Seas.
This is a fire tapestry/textile collage. I know it's not exactly how Pia described it, but my mind latched onto the idea of a fire - themed tapestry and wouldn't let it go.
All said and done this will measure about three and a half feet by three and a half feet. I've already started doing some hand embroidery on it, and I plan to do some beading on it as well.
I'm enjoying making this piece so much! I love doing involved mixed media projects. š
(Also , sorry I didn't get a day 5 image up. I have something planned for the prompt, but it might be a while before I'll actually have the time to get to it. The image is so super clear and specific in my head that I don't want to try to rush it.)
