Ohoho, it sounded like Nell was getting serious! Chey couldn’t see the little girl’s face, but she imagined her expression was as adorable as ever. The thought made her smile broaden.

“I can’t wait to see what you have in store for me, Miss Stylist!” she chirped. Flowers bloomed delicately in the grass around them—a clear sign Chey was as excited as she seemed. Some even bloomed in her hair, though she trusted that Nell would use those flowers to her advantage. 

          no matter how many times she witnessed it,  nell was certain she could never truly get over the fact that chey could simply...   make flowers appear.   in her hair.   it was unbelievably pretty,  and unbelievably unfair,  and maybe nell should wish for permanent flower crowns too,  because that would be gorgeous and cool and it would look totally cute on her.

          but that's a topic for another day.   for now,  she has work to do!

The nine-year-old’s request made the genie laugh, merriment coursing through her at the thought of such a fun activity.

“Of course not! You’ve gotta say the words ‘I wish’ and all that!” Chey set the girl down and knelt so as to give her better access to her bright pink locks. “Go right ahead, my lil goober!”

          the little girl couldn't help but giggle at the nickname - - had anybody else called her that,  she would've probably stuck her tongue out and promptly ignored them for a week.   it simply felt right coming from chey,  though,  so nell decided she didn't quite mind.

         arms wrapped gently around the other's neck, nell grins and braces herself for the lift - - only to squeal in surprise and delight when the spin came. she wasn't expecting it, but she's certainly not complaining!

          and nell  squeals  --  eyes twinkling,  grin wide and heart-warming  --  and returns her friend’s hug with no hesitation .   did she miss her?   her expression alone should make the answer obvious .
