i think some of us need to examine why we're not okay with black people expressing anger over something that was incredibly, violently triggering to them without tacking on a "yes but the character was justified"
and btw yes. she absolutely was. claudia has suffered at the hands of these two and several others, and sure maybe this is the "real" claudia and everything we know of her from before has been shown to us through a rose tinted lens, or okay maybe this isn't even real claudia but a malevolent spirit pretending to be her telling louis something he thinks claudia would say to him in his deepest, most shameful, guilty moments, and probably she should've said much worse to him and has said awful stuff to him before so this shouldn't come as a surprise - that's all valid and true. as smart people we can debate on the validity of claudia's anger as a character till the world ends.
and at the same time, especially with everything happening in the world right now - it was horrific to hear some of the things she said and i'm a non-black poc. i cannot even- the barcode on his ribs. nappy head. slave. a black character we adore.
the poc you love and respect are going through some terrible times rn. black people are hurting everywhere in all communities. the entire planet is on fire. we're literally being hunted.
so sit with your black friends in your servers or wherever you hang out and let. them. be. angry. let them tell you how deeply upsetting this was to see, to hear, to experience in such an unexpected way. sit there and say "yeah that must have been shitty jfc i cant even imagine" without explaining why it expanded the plot, why it made sense for the character, why she was justified, why he deserves it - just be upset with them.
