PROJECT | Merchandise for the 1939 New York World’s Fair
“I chose to do the Trylon and the Perisphere because they seemed to be one of the well-known exhibits from the Fair. I did a more minimalist design for the shapes of the Trylon and Perisphere and for the color palette, I opted to use the palette from a stamp design also featuring the Trylon and Perisphere. I sketched the design first on a piece of paper, and then transferred my designs to Illustrator. The font was inspired by the lettering on an old Hagley Museum poster. I was not able to find the original font, but managed to find one that looked similar.”

PROJECT | Promoting the Humans of UWF facebook page
“For the second part of the Humans of UWF project, I decided to step out of my comfort zone, but not too much. I decided on making a visual, print it out, and put it under the windshield wipers of cars in a parking lot.
I made the visual/flyer to be relatively small, mostly so it’ll be easier for people to put it in their pocket or wallet or bag. It would also challenge me to make the flyer visually appealing, yet useful at the same time. I included a QR code – a square version of a barcode, basically – so people with smartphones (either iOS or Android) can scan it, and they can be redirected to the Facebook page. I also put the flyer in a laminated sheet. I noticed that recent weather had been a little wishy-washy. One can never know if it’s really going to rain or not. A laminated cover protects it from the elements.
I put the flyers under the windshield wipers of cars parked in Lot M. I picked Lot M because it’s an overflow parking lot, and because it’s connected to at least three buildings that people can walk to. Art students park in Lot M, and so do people who use the tennis courts, and sometimes overflow parking from nearby parking lots that accommodate the international students and those who participate in ROTC.”
