Black cat but with sparkles
Does anybody know which building in particular inspired this? π
I'm guessing the Bonn-Center?
In an interview she says it was in Hamburg, and a post office. FADER thinks its the Post-Pyramide Hamburg.
Thatβs one hell of a post office. You could have the queues winding around walkways, up and down the floors.
Hey, you, cis girl that's very (correctly) vocal about women being allowed to talk about their periods, do you include trans women in that?
I ask because every single time I've tried to talk about it to anyone that isn't a trans woman they get fucking angry. Which has caused me to have to just suffer in silence every single month. So I really relate to cis women when they talk about literally the exact same thing; being shamed by everyone around them their whole lives for talking about their periods, so they just suffer in silence every month as it negatively impacts their work and social lives. But I don't even feel like I can voice that I am literally dealing with the same exact thing because most of y'all react like you want to throw me in front of a bus for saying it, even those of you who act like your such big great transfem allies.
I guess I'll take this opportunity to talk about trans women periods. The first thing any tme person thinks when they hear this is always "how can trans women have periods? They don't have uteruses!"
The answer is: the uterus isn't what causes your period, it is effected by your period. What causes your period and what causes trans women's periods is the same thing: the endocrine system.
HRT changes the sex of your endocrine system. Feminizing HRT makes it a female endocrine system, giving us a 28-day hormone cycle just like cis women. At the end of that cycle, the hypothalamus floods the body with prostaglandins. Those are what cause all but one of the period symptoms, because they make muscles inflame and contract. They are what make the uterus shed its lining, they are what cause intestinal cramps, they are what cause body aches, they are what cause headaches and migraines. The only period symptom not causes by the release of prostaglandins throughout the body is depression, and that is caused by your endocrine system simply not processing as much estrogen and from simply feeling like shit.
So, the only symptoms trans women don't get every 28 days is menstrual cramps, because yes we do not menstruate since we don't have uteruses. But migraines, depression, body aches, intestinal cramps, and the infamous "period shits" don't exactly add up to us having any better of a time. Except we have to pretend that we're fine and nothing is different because no one believes that we get periods, not even cis women.
"But you can't call it a period then because that refers to MENSTRUATION!" is another one I hear all the time. This is incorrect. You use the word "period" instead of just "menstruation" because it doesn't just refer to menstruation. It refers to a period at the end of the hormone cycle where we experience a host of symptoms. And not all cis women experience all of the symptoms that encompass the period. Not all cis women get migraines, or body aches, or have severe depression. If a cis woman gets a hysterectomy she doesn't menstruate either! In that instance she experiences an identical period to what trans women experience. Yet, I doubt you'd insist that cis women who've had hysterectomies don't have periods.
Oh, another thing that I personally discovered after bottom surgery: vaginal odor changes for trans women during our periods too. I was not expecting that because I always thought it was just from menstruation. But nope, the ph levels of a trans woman's vagina are the same of as a cis woman's vagina, and it changes during our periods just the same.
I forgot to mention this here but sky italia said that after going to the med center Bez went back to the garage and hugged his second bike π and then proceeded to sit on his chair of despair w his guys

If you're comfortable accusing anyone of faking disability, you're not a real ally to disabled people
One time when I was a kid a group of girls and I had to treat another student for hypothermia by ourselves because she had so many invisible health issues that the adults we asked for help didn't believe us. The student in question was actively hallucinating. When I finally ran for help the people I grabbed were slow as shit to respond, casually joking about how "dramatic" the person in question was.
The kid was picked up by an ambulance 30 minutes later.
Now as an adult working in security I get SO MANY folks- upper-middle aged mostly- coming to me to 'rat out' people they think are faking it.
I was once sent into a bathroom because a client demanded that the "fucker won't get out, so go drag them out"- I was NEVER going to do that, so I did a wellness check instead. You know who it was? A person recently released from the hospital after a car accident. They had a hole in their skull and major hearing loss. They couldn't answer the owner because they couldn't HEAR the owner.
Another time about a homeless man who got around town by kicking the ground from his wheelchair. "You know he doesn't actually need that thing, his legs work fine, it's just for pity points"- Oh, so he's not paralyzed, his wheelchair is performative? Funny story Dale, I actually know that guy, he was backed over by a truck and has chronic pain from his shattered pelvis. But sure, let's make him stand up and walk everywhere so nobody feels too bad for him and tries to help him or something.
"She doesn't need that scooter, I've seen her get out of it."
"Look how fat he is, because he just rides around and refuses to get up."
"She doesn't really need that cane- she comes here without it all the time"
Sincerely, truly, from the bottom of my heart- as someone who isn't physically disabled but hears this shit all the time- fuck off
The thing that is wild about this, is all the disabled people I know try so hard not to need their mobility devices. Each time one of my friends needs to graduate to a more helpful device - cane to a walker, walker to a sitting walker, sitting walker to a wheel chair - they're deeply unhappy about it. And my other friends and I rally around them and remind them that anything that makes their life easier and less painful is GOOD, and it's there to help. We have to convince them that it's β¨okayβ¨ to be in less pain, and do things more easily. And none of them would be crying over that if they didn't know how many assholes are out there who'll treat them differently, accuse them of faking or being dramatic, or actively try to take their mobility aids away.
I was severely injured years ago and couldn't stand or walk at all for a month, and needed a cane for six months after. Do you know how much that sucked? How difficult it was to get around? Go to the bathroom? How exhausting it was to strategize how to run errands and get places and do basic shit like catch transit? I never took those things for granted but holy shit was that experience eye opening. A total of two people held a door open for me. A *ton* of people eyed me skeptically. I had to be seated amongst the first of those boarding a plane and other passengers were furious. Those same people would also have been furious if they were stuck behind me as I slowly hobbled onto the plane with the main group.
No one would fake a disability. I mean, there might be someone out there trying it for unfathomable reasons, but humans are hugely independent creatures and deeply, deeply pressed by our culture to feel shame over not being able to do things alone. I think the idea that anyone is faking a disability is fucking ludicrous. Needing a mobility aid is painful and difficult and exhausting, both physically and mentally. You'd only use one if it made your life legitimately easier. If you're fully mobile, IT WOULD NOT BE EASIER.
If you ever suspect someone of faking, please take a breath and rethink it. Because that is a bonkers stance.
yesterday i was at the woodworking store getting a knife sharpener because i've been really into whittling hair sticks out of hardwoods which dulls your blades like mad. and the lady who was helping me said "oh yeah i know the feeling of jumping into a project that turns out more complex, that's how i feel about my cable knit right now"
which in turn activated my sleeper autist, and we ended up talking about fiber arts, where i learned that this woman is part of the local lacemaker's guild and uses her woodworking experience to carve lace bobbins on the lathe. she then gave me the email address of the woman who runs it, because their group has no social media and only meets when the lead lady says 'everyone come to my house.'
while all of this was going on, another woman walks up. her partner was shopping for wood repair stuff and she heard us talking about fiber- she's a spinner who does historical reenactments nearby. period accurate, processes the wool herself. of course i ask her if they need volunteers and she gives me her contact info
long story short. autism is everywhere you look and you have to be okay with chatting with strangers. i don't remember where this post was going
