SIGNAL BOOST!
look at my son! pride is not the word i’m looking for!! (ian’s sc: thespleeb)
Of all the strange things to happen in 2017, Smash Mouth explicitly supporting trans people during pride month is by far the most pleasant. Hey now, you’re an all star.
I’ve heard a lot of things about being “trans enough” lately and its been making me mad, so i made a comic.
Remember my inbox is always open, so feel free to message me! I hope you are all doing well <3
Disclaimer: This comic is intended for ftm trans guys or anyone identifying as masculine

Almost 4 months post-op ☺️
Do people who think you don’t need dysphoria to be trans even know what dysphoria is?
As a trans person who has medically transitioned in order to relieve significant body dysphoria I have experienced and who has plans for further medical transition for dysphoria I do experience still, I can say 100% that other trans people do not need to have my same dysphoria experience to identify and be transgender.
Being transgender is not defined by our dysphoria, discomfort, or various struggles. Being transgender means that you do not identify with the gender you were assigned at birth.
Human beings will always experience the world in completely unique and diverse ways–because of our inherent selves, how we grew up, what beliefs we were taught, what we believe about the world, and countless other factors that mean that not every person of an identity will be subject to the same experience.
Other people’s experiences with their gender and their vulnerability in sharing them do not mean their identities become a subject of debate. Not your gender, not your problem.
Not to mention that trans people living in cultures that don’t violently stigmatize trans ways of being are not necessarily going to develop dysphoria in the same way (if at all) that people living in white-centric Western cultures will. It’s really not our place to regulate what does and does not constitute trans identity, even if we are trans ourselves. It is past time that we recognize and commit to the belief that there is no one quintessential way of being trans. We can experience community and cohesive identities without placing those gates. And frankly, the faster we remove these arbitrary rules around what does and does not constitute certain gendered ways of being, the faster we can undo the harmful binary system that perpetuates trans marginalization to begin with.
“Society finally has a chance to see and learn about who we are."
Eight months after taking office, the mayor of a small town in Texas has come out as transgender.
“As your Mayor I must tell you about something that has been with me since my earliest memories,” New Hope Mayor Jess Herbst wrote in an open letter on the town’s website. “I am Transgender.”
She is believed to be the first openly transgender mayor in Texas, The Dallas Observer reported.
Herbst has been documenting her journey on the blog, JessHerbst.com. She told The Huffington Post that the reaction to her news has been overwhelmingly positive.
I’m 👏so 👏 proud 👏 of 👏 her 👏
It makes me so happy every time ❤️

So my surgeon had to cancel my surgery because she’s on extended sick leave. This would be fine if she had me rescheduled at a later date, but nope. I’m currently doing ok though. Hopefully things get figured out

Another Top Surgery Checklist

“Is it normal?” The binding edition
Yes:
Getting winded after walking quickly/upstairs with binder on, but able to catch breath
Chafing in the underarm areas
Soreness (during or after) in arms, shoulders, or back
Increased acne on chest or back
Mild anxiety about tightness
Chest sagging
No, take it off and rest, see a doctor if problem gets worse or doesn’t go away after taking the binder off (or after one week):
Nausea during or after binding, including nausea caused by pain
Bruising
Out of breath/can’t catch breath when not wearing binder
Skin rash
Sharp pains in ribs
Not able to cough or sneeze
Numbness in arms
Feeling too tired/sore to do everyday activities
Suddenly having any of the above symptoms even if you’ve been binding for years
No, see a doctor ASAP, could be a sign of serious injury:
Anything from the above category if you can just tell/feel something is wrong, better safe than sorry
Extreme claustrophobia/panic attacks
Sharp pain in chest/heart skipping beats or beating very fast
Not able to breathe
Dizziness
Blueness in lips or fingertips
Change in shape of ribcage
Fainting
good stuff to know if you wear a binder, especially if you’re new to it. this is way more informative than the basic “don’t wear it for more than 8 hours uwu!!!111!!” - although that is also good advice. sometimes the time you keep it on will vary because of your schedule, and you don’t have to panic if that’s the case. just pay attention your body, know what’s safe, and crack your poor back as often as you can.
