The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) also said, “Whoever recites the last two verses of Surah Al-Baqarah at night, those two verses shall be sufficient for him (i.e. to protect him from all that can cause him harm).”
Surah Al-Baqarah: Ayah 285-286
The Messenger (Muhammad SAW) believes in what has been sent down to him from his Lord, and (so do) the believers. Each one believes in Allâh, His Angels, His Books, and His Messengers. (They say), "We make no distinction between one another of His Messengers" and they say, "We hear, and we obey. (We seek) Your Forgiveness, our Lord, and to You is the return (of all)." (285)
Allâh burdens not a person beyond his scope. He gets reward for that (good) which he has earned, and he is punished for that (evil) which he has earned. "Our Lord! Punish us not if we forget or fall into error, our Lord! Lay not on us a burden like that which You did lay on those before us (Jews and Christians); our Lord! Put not on us a burden greater than we have strength to bear. Pardon us and grant us Forgiveness. Have mercy on us. You are our Maulâ (Patron, Supporter and Protector, etc.) and give us victory over the disbelieving people." (286)

Abu Huraira said, "The messenger of Allah (may the peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) put me in charge of the Zakat of Ramadan (i.e. Zakat-ul-Fitr). Someone came to me and started scooping some of the foodstuff of (Zakat) with both hands. I caught him and told him that I would take him to Allah's messenger (may the peace and blessings of Allah be upon him)." Then he (Abu Huraira) told the whole narration and added , He (i.e. the thief) said,, “When you are about to sleep recite ayat-al-kursee (The verse of the foot-stool, Surah Baqarah 2:255) till the end of the verse for there will remain over you a protection from Allah and no devil will draw near to you until the morning.”, the messenger of Allah (may the peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) (upon hearing this) said: "He (i.e. the theif) told the truth even though he is a habitual liar, he was a shaytan"
Allâh! Lâ ilâha illa Huwa (none has the right to be worshipped but He), the Ever Living, the One Who sustains and protects all that exists. Neither slumber, nor sleep overtake Him. To Him belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on earth.
Who is he that can intercede with Him except with His Permission. He knows what happens to them (His creatures) in this world, and what will happen to them in the Hereafter. And they will never compass anything of His Knowledge except that which He wills.
His Kursee extends over the heavens and the earth, and He feels no fatigue in guarding and preserving them. And He is the Most High, the Most Great.
N.B. This verse is famously known as "Ayat Alkursee/Alkursi" or "the Verse of The Footstool"

When retiring to his bed every night, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) would hold his palms together, spit (a form of spitting comprising mainly of air with little spittle) in them, recite the last three chapters (Al-Ikhlas, Al-Falaq, An-Nas) of the Quran and then wipe over his entire body as much as possible with his hands, beginning with his head and face, and then all parts of the body, he would do this three times.
Surah Al-Ikhlas In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Say (O Muhammad (SAW)): "He is Allâh, (the) One.(1) Allâh the Self-Sufficient Master, Whom all creatures need, (He neither eats nor drinks). (2) He begets not, nor was He begotten. (3) And there is none co-equal or comparable unto Him." (4)
Surah Al-Falaq In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Say: "I seek refuge with (Allâh) the Lord of the daybreak, (1) From the evil of what He has created; (2) And from the evil of the darkening (night) as it comes with its darkness; (or the moon as it sets or goes away) (3) And from the evil of those who practice witchcrafts when they blow in the knots, (4) And from the evil of the envier when he envies." (5)
Surah An-Nas In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Say: "I seek refuge with (Allâh) the Lord of mankind, (1) The King of mankind (2) The Ilâh (God) of mankind, (3) From the evil of the whisperer (devil who whispers evil in the hearts of men) who withdraws (from his whispering in one's heart after one remembers Allâh), (4) Who whispers in the breasts of mankind, (5) Of jinn and men."
