“How’s it going, sweetheart?” Maryse asks softly, setting a coffee cup beside him.

“Got anything stronger?” Magnus huffs.

“Not right now.” She responds sympathetically.

“I’m out of ideas.” He throws his hands up. “My husband, and half of my entire family seems to be dying and there’s nothing I can do about it! I can barely keep up with the medicine supply to keep them from crashing completely. I’ve already ran out once today, I just got vials in everyone’s room. And that can’t work much longer, surely. I haven’t felt this useless since I actually lost my magic. And the only thing that kept me from losing my mind sooner than I did over that was Alec. But he’s-” Magnus clenches his fists, eyes welling up. “Sorry. This is your family too. I should be able to help.”

“Hey, you’re allowed to break, ok? We probably put too much pressure on you.” 

“You didn’t. I just… I can’t let any of them die.”

and another from the same scene, for good measure (aka malec)

“Where’s Jace?” Alec demands. He’s shaking, eyes fixed on Magnus for answers.

“Bedroom. Clary just checked in. Let’s get you back to bed, Alexander.” He coos.

“No!” Alec sways a bit. “I can barely feel him. LIke this is tearing us apart somehow. Unless he’s-”

“He’s alive, Alec.” Maryse puts a hand on his shoulder. Normally, Alec would hate having three different sets of hands on him at once. The fact he isn’t flinching from any of them shows Magnus how out of it he is. But he’s still steely focused on his brother.

“Then why can’t.” He breaks off, losing his breath. Magnus gently sets him on the couch.

“Could be because you’re already so weak, darling.”

“Magnus.” Alec glares at him as strongly as he physically can, which is more than Magnus has seen from him in days. “This is different. This is doing something to our bond. You said he wanted to punish parabatai. What if the end goal is to break us apart the hard way.” He claws at the base of his shirt, eyeing his rune.

He’s right.

There’s a mark similar to the one that was made when Alec had him temporarily weaken the bond years ago.

anyway. I do love this one and I hope it'll translate. Coming soon, how soon, again, I don't know.

Moving onto malec outsider pov:

this is from an AUgust prompt (I'm only doing a handful of those and they were all in the post) as advertised, malec from outsider perspectives, little bits from different stages of their relationships or lives. I definitely have Jace and Izzy, likely Clary, Max, probably Maryse and possibly Catarina (for somebody who was more on Magnus' side in the beginning). So far I actually have pieces written for Jace at the Lydia wedding, after their first time, the first I love you, the first breakup, the first reunion, and a start on the events of 3b. And Izzy leading up to the Lydia wedding, but that's scribbled on a piece of paper bc I needed to get it out of my head and I'm pretty sure I'm the only person on the planet that can decipher what it means so. Here's a Jace bit instead.

“Izzy told you, didn’t she?” He looks up, face hiding any emotion. But Jace has never needed to see it on his face. He practically feels his own heart skip.

“Mom mentioned the breakup first. What happened, Alec?”

“He’s not the same. He doesn’t feel whole without his magic, and no matter what I try to do, there’s nothing else I could do to change it. I didn’t want to leave. But it was the only way.”

“You made the sacrifice.”

“Do you think I’m an idiot?” He looks up, eyes threatening to tear up.

“I think you’re in love, Alec. And I think Magnus will figure it out. And somewhere he’ll be grateful. He’ll know you love him still.”

“I just wish I could see him again.”

“Nobody’s saying you can’t.” “Except for his demonic father.”

“We’ve gotten rid of greater demons before. He doesn’t scare me.”

because it's more perspective, it's not very dialogue heavy. Perspective things like this are not my usual cup of tea so I'm a bit nervous about it BUT I was inspired, so here goes!

the plot of my life doesn't exist:

it sure does not. This is a nonsense crossover between shadowhunters and stargate. Because well, I've done a lot of stargate crossovers so what's one more. I have two friends that encouraged me on this one. My original thought here was that Daniel from sg1 is basically the opposite character journey of Alec. He starts out with so much wonder and excitement about his career, about the universe. But then he loses the woman he loves and watches another woman he loved get taken (and dies countless times) and by the end of the show he's still a great character but he's much more like season 1 Alec: Jaded, snarky, not very open, feeling like he doesn't have a lot going for him, trying to hide. But then Alec finds Magnus and grows out of that little corner he was in. That, however, has made no appearance in this as of yet. It will, surely, I'll make it happen. It also has taken a massive turn in that John was going to become a werewolf but I decided to just make that its own sga fic and keep him as more of a shadowhunter in the crossover (he's clawed by a demon and eventually their last effort to save him is runes bc he had the vision to see the demon)

lastly, izzy:

this one is meant to be a little silly. There's not a lot on it yet but basically, Izzy trying to play through it like any good Lightwood. Jace is absolutely not having it and Clary gets stuck in the middle and Alec and Magnus become the ones that try to get her to actually relax. Will it work? No clue, haven't got that far 😂
