but alec just stares at him blankly and says “what are you talking about?” and simon gets all confused and tries to explain it to him but alec just keeps staring at him and saying “i don’t know what that is” and magnus is just holding back a grin because they watched that movie together 

then eventually they get to some kind of castle or fortress or whatever and the group decides to split up, simon going in with some of the others and alec says “have fun storming the castle!” prompting simon to shout “come on, that’s from the princess bride!” and alec, again, just looks at him in confusion and says “you’re not making any sense” in a complete deadpan voice. simon, frustrated and confused, is dragged away before he can say much else
