Event Knights

As you leave the two villages behind, an unsettling feeling sits on the bottom of your stomach. You’re not quite sure if your appearance has left either of them in a better state, but you know they’ve changed for it.

You did what you believed was ‘right,’ and that’s all that matters in the end, right?

You’re all together again at Stoneridge, and your charge quickly regroups with his followers at NOIR, leaving you to your own devices. He claims that you’re free from your obligations as he doesn’t feel right to have dragged the lot of you into this mess for this long and does apologize for it. However, you’re well aware he’ll face plenty more difficulties without your assistance, and maybe even lose against the equipment supplies his sister has.

Yet, he smiles and simply says how he prepared for another plan during his time in Shieldgate, but, before you could ask for more information, you and your team are rudely taken out of NOIR.

It seems like you’re left with three choices.

Will you continue to watch this mess or pick a side?

In the end, negotiations breakdown, but it seems as though they’ve decided to take a neutral stance until the situation at Stoneridge settles. It’s not ideal, but it’s better than the alternative.

Your charge decides it’s finally time to head back to Stoneridge in the morning. You’re thankful it isn’t that far of a travel, but it’s still longer than you’d have liked. Perhaps, you’d like to explore one more night before you’d leave?

Meanwhile, those at Stoneridge are dealing with multiple fights between your charge’s followers and the current Mayor’s forces. You’re not sure who’s thrown the first stone, but the fighting has finally escalated to the point of weapons pointed at one another on open streets.

Even the Neutral District has been breached!

The only place the fighting doesn’t go near is the Wanderer’s Inn.

You’re on your own until back up arrives, but how did this happen so quickly? This isn’t your fight, so should you even take up arms?

SHIELDGATE INFORMATION UPDATED!

GENERAL

Unlike Stoneridge, Shieldgate is a farming town. Having only been established two years ago, many of the buildings are still improvised versions of their former homes. They thrive through trade with Stoneridge and have backing from the Vouivre Alliance. Coupled with the fact they are build on top of an oasis, they are prone for expansion.

Aside from their leader and their followers, the Vouivre of Shieldgate are closed off and wary of outsiders, regardless of their race. This includes others of their race as well. They are made up entirely of one tribe.

BUILDINGS + HOUSING

Due to the fact it had only recently ( in the last two years ) stopped being a nomadic village, the buildings are temporary. Buildings are constructed from cloth and leathers taken from the farm animals asides from the scraps of metal taken from vehicles and other materials lost by the foreigners that scour their lands. It helped that there were a few buildings left standing from the last village that had been there.

Although he’s welcoming, you can see the underlying distrust lurking behind those eyes. Or, maybe, that’s because you can see how his guards look you and your companions over. They’re not even staring at your charge, almost expectantly? Had someone told them you’re going to head over there before you’d arrived? It shouldn’t be too surprising if they’re in league with your charge’s sister.

Either way, their body language tells you that they’re very firm on whatever stance they’ve already made. Everything you say seems to bounce off them, and it’s troubling. Still, your charge is determined to get his point across, and it keeps you revitalized and encouraged to do the same - for as long as he allows.

Eventually, he escorts you off.

You look back at your charge to see if he would agree (or even be safe among them), and he nods back to you, saying things would be fine.

The sun hasn’t fallen yet, and it leaves you with some time to explore.

As expected, Shieldgate is much smaller than Stoneridge. It doesn’t take much effort to go around the entire tribe, and you’re not sure if you’ll want to go another round with how they’re all staring at you.

Maybe, you should pick a place to stay at?

You have discovered a few notable things about the tribe.

tw: corpses treated as meat.

Your eyes are blindfolded, and your arms and legs tied. The scent the place around wherever you are is disorienting. Your head spins, and it's difficult to tell whether it's from the concussion or because of the scent alone.

Still, you struggle, determined to find away out of wherever you are.

"It's moving again."

"What, you didn't kill him?"

"I couldn't! You know what'll happen."

"Once we get rid of Mordecai, it won't matter. They're just Columbian scum anyways."

Their voices begin to fade again, but what they said alarmed you. Your charge is in danger. Expected, but it's different hearing it with your own ears. You need to tell the others, but you've got to get out of here first.

Struggling with the bindings, you try to grope around behind you for anything sharp. Maybe, after nicking your fingers, you've found the pointy end of a dulled polearm. It doesn't take to long before your hands and legs are free, and you yank the blindfold away.

It looks like some storage area with some kind of meat dangling from the walls no different than any other meat packaging place, and you rub your arms. It's awfully cold in here at night and, huh.

Now that you think of it, what kind of meat is this?

You take a step forward, reaching for one of them.

It's then that you realize, they're humans.

There's rows and rows of them here. Young, old, it didn't matter. The only ones that aren't here are Infected, and, maybe, that's why they haven't killed you.

You continue wandering, trying to find a way to escape, when the door hisses open. It's modern? The lights flicker on, and you grab the nearest weapon.

Two swift strikes.

That's all you need to knock them out and run.

As you head back to the Inn for the night, you get an odd feeling. One of your operatives had shared some questionable news, and, before you knew it, your already heading away from the Inn to investigate.

On second hand, maybe it was a bad idea to do this. The feel at night is completely different than the day. In fact, the area you've managed to wander to is eerily quiet. There's nothing around but the night howls of beasts off in the distance.

Maybe you should turn back.

But, you've gone so far, so you might as well keep going, right?

You've got a distinct feeling that someone's watching you though, even if you can't see them. You're turning. Left. Right. You don't see anyone.

It's just that feeling.

That's when you feel someone grab your collar, and you reach for your gun.

"Wh- wait a second!"

You'd almost pulled the trigger if they hadn't spoken. It's your charge. The Vouivre lets out an audible sigh as he lets you go. Apparently, he hadn't meant to yank on you so roughly, but he'd been calling for you for a while now. He's been trying to warn you about how dangerous the area can be, but you mustn't have heard him.

Eventually, he manages to redirect you back to the inn.

He stands there for a moment, looking at the direction you were going. There's a silver glint out there, and he shakes his head.

You catch sight of several merchants pulling a long a variety of supplies. They seem a bit on edge, but you have noticed there's something brewing, more the longer you stay.

You attempt to approach, but someone stops you. It's Char, the Sarkazian woman who runs the Inn. She claims that the Doctor was looking for you.

You look back, and the merchants are gone. The same goes for the tarp covered wagons they were dragging. It leaves you with and uneasy feeling, but you have a feeling that you shouldn't pursue them on your own.
