when written correctly, his development is amazing. he gets put on the back burner a lot and i think it’s because writers don’t know how to approach his character. he’s someone written with a lot of grief and anger, but his initial motives were to make bruce proud of him. it’s hard to translate his future action while also incorporating his past. a few comic lines do that well, it all depends on the writer and how much they stray from the character

i relate to a lot of his character, especially pre-crowbar teen jay where he was just a massive nerd. when i was younger, i would read a lot of the books he referenced in his comics and that had a giant influence on my taste in books now. he’s a character i can point at and say “although we have many differences, i see a little of you in me.”
