I cannot GET OVER how respectful BTS are of women.
•They consult feminists when writing their lyrics
•Wrote a whole ass 21st Century Girls with an actually thoughtful message about women loving and standing up for themselves.
•Their automatic manner hands when making contact with fans and celebs alike. (It’s made the headlines!)
•Keeping a respectful distance when lined up at award shows and taking extra care to not tread on dresses or accidentally touch her.
•Recognizes women’s struggle and even included the ‘glass ceiling’ in Not Today (an empowering song about surviving in a toxic society.)
•Never acts like their fanbase is any less valuable because the majority are female- even correcting biased interviewers.
•Keeping their eyes averted when there is even a minor wardrobe malfunction or a chance of outfits showing cleavage.
•Doesn’t see wearing female clothing as ‘degrating’ and unironically wears dresses, skirts, makeup, extravagant earrings/jewelry, fishnets, high heels, corsets and more.
•When they do dress as girls for a game, they never act like a stereotypical female. They create badass characters- carrying guns in their purses, doing workouts, and aren’t afraid to rip apart guys.
•Giving up chairs for fans and other girl group idols who are left standing in the back.
•Being respectful of Muslim fans and not touching them even when forced into a very tight space.
•When talking about fans in hijabs, they speak of how they are so beautiful that they hide their face to not wreck the beauty industry. They also expressed their worry because during their concerts it was hard for fans to keep the fabric on tightly in the chaos.
•Helping female idols and fans up to the stage, or down steps when they are in heels.
•“…I think that the demeaning of women needs to be subdued.“ -Namjoon when discussing the origins of hip-hop and how they are working on respectfully adapting the genre.
•Yoonji is often referred to as an extension of Yoongi, furthering the idea that he doesn’t see being female as humiliating or shameful.
•Have acknowledged the criticism that they ‘act like girls’ but never stopped acting traditionally ‘feminine’ by showing their emotions, sentimental love for art, and genuine love and tenderness for each other.
Stan feminist icons. Stan BTS.
