xB: How did I specifically get invited to Hermitcraft? Uh, well, I just-I-I paid Etho? Twenty bucks? And...I mean, the rest is basically history. (twenty seconds of silence) "Etho wasn't even on Hermitcraft at that point." That's just how good Etho is. Like, you don't even understand. He's that good. He was on a completely different server at that time.

So I think the best strat here is for the users who did get the new layout to just stop using the desktop version of the site for a while, like a week or a month or however long their 'experiment' is supposed to last, while the users who didn't get the new layout should keep using the desktop version like normal or, perhaps, use it even more than usual.

My guess is that they're doing basic A/B testing on the new layout to see if it would boost engagement: the userbase is split roughly 50/50 between the 2 versions and they are going to be comparing the engagement data between the 2 groups of users to see if it's worth it switching everyone to the new layout or not.

Basically, if you got the new layout and don't like it - don't use it. If engagement metrics of group B (new layout) are lower than those of group A (no change), the experiment will be considered a failure and they will have to reverse the change.

anon i am a little scared (respectful + honorary + in awe) of your methods . i use my thumns, so that my 4 fingers on each hand can use the touch typing method-- at leats for my left hand that is, my right hand kind of has the bad habit of bouncing around from playing minecraft as a kid and switching from mouse to keyboard quickly. (funnily enough that's how i learned to type fast--gotta press T to talk and get my message out fast as possible before placing those blocks!)

anyway, in touch typing you use the home row keys.

that's why there's a little ridge on the F and J keys on most keyboards-- it's so that you can find them with your index finger!

as a note, touch typing doesnt work for everyone adn there are plenty of other methods to use the keyboard. as previously mentioned i don't really touch type with my right hand, just my left!

um, here is a link to a wikipedia article about it. i don't know if it's helpful or not. i looked at it and there was a picture on it taken in 1910 and my brain phased out of existance, unfortunately.
