Joe Biden’s climate action plan proposes about 1/10th less funding and estimates creating 1/2 the number of new jobs as Bernie Sander’s Green New Deal, as well as taking decades longer to achieve the same goal. The Green New Deal is a massive capital and infrastructure investment meant to prepare the US for climate diaster and rebuild crumbling public infrastructure. Despite the necessity and popularity of the bill, the nation’s left wing politicians oppose a well-funded Green New Deal. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D) has dismissed it as “the green dream”, and California Governor Gavin Newsome (D) has continued issuing dozens of fracking permits during the pandemic.
