Winds and waves babies 🥺!!
For anyone who didn't get to see here's what Mr. Ape said in the Premiere chat
from concernedape's 10 year anniversary post on steam
things in fic I'm used to people kind of faking their way through writing about:
the city of los angeles
the city of new york
sex
how drinking alcohol works
how getting high works
how a child of any age speaks
how nuclear physics work
how [my job] works
how debilitating being shot in the shoulder is
how hypothermia works
things I have never before seen someone fake their way through writing about, until today:
what french toast is
#the most important line in the movie

“What jumped off the page between Samson and Kelson— the first thing that came to mind was, it was a love story. Effectively that’s how I interpreted it, you know you have the character of Doctor Ian Kelson seeing this monster but seeing so much more within it.” —Chi Lewis-Parry (Beneath the Rage BTS)
Bone temple spoilers
Sampson backstory time!! I loved how he just saw a shadow of an infected at the end of the aisle, an oblivious ticket inspector distracting him for just a second then just enough time for him to admit he doesn't have a ticket before the infection. It made me think abt how we see extras and background characters in zombie movies hang out, completely normal and unaware, and then bitten before they can even react. It couldve been as quick as that. In just a second it's over and before you know it you're in the same spot but almost thirty years have passed and now you can see the infected clearly and theyre all around you
dr kelson was in a romcom and spike was in saw for the entire runtime until they overlapped
the fact that samson’s wellbeing and their growing friendship saved kelson’s life MULTIPLE times… like what if i had nothing else left to live for and im getting old and so, so tired, but you need me, and so i live? and he did? up until the very end, kelson lived for samson, then he lived to help spike, and even when he was dying, it wasn’t in vain. i really hope samson’s able to save him. i really hope the man inside samson has the knowledge and the power to save kelson’s life.
dr kelson you have bewitched me

The Jimmy gang in 28 Years Later is the most brilliant take on “humans are the real monsters” trope in post-apocalyptic films because they’re convincingly menacing in-universe yet so unbelievably corny to the viewers that it becomes nearly impossible to idolize them even ironically the way people did with, say, the Joker, Fight Club, or Patrick Bateman. Their whole aesthetic is tainted by the dramatic irony of us knowing more about Jimmy Saville than they ever will; their ignorance precedes them even if they are really good at killing
doctor ian kelson kinda the best character ever
