Whispers of The Monsoon Rain.
At 2 A.M., the resounding thunder in the sky compels me to rush to my balcony, where I gaze upward in wonder, feeling like a curious child. The dark sky intermittently lights up with blinding flashes of lightning, and the rain pours down as though a flood is on the horizon. It’s the monsoon rains, and this indescribable feeling of comfort and bittersweet nostalgia embraces me, making me feel like I'm finally home.
Do you remember the first time I pulled you into the rain to dance together? I'll never forget how hesitant and apprehensive you were at first, but as we danced, your fear transformed into pure delight, and you ended up loving it even more than I did. To be honest with you, since you've been gone, the rain lost its magic for me. It used to be a joyful dance, twirling and spinning amidst the raindrops, feeling your presence in every splash. But now, I merely walk through the downpour, each raindrop a stirring reminder of the memories we once cherished together. Every droplet that caresses my skin resurrects the laughter, the warmth, and the love we shared. The patter of raindrops, which once served as our secret melody, resonates like my favorite melancholic violin piece. Now, the rain serves as both a healer and a tormentor, bringing back the echoes of your voice, your laughter, and the touch of your hand.
Lately, I find myself no longer walking in the rain; instead, I simply sit by my window and watch it from the comfort of my room. There are days when the longing for you becomes unbearable, and the rain seems to weep with me, mirroring the tears that stream down my face. The pitter-patter of raindrops on my windowpane echoes the rhythm of my heart, which beats with a yearning to see you again, to feel your presence once more. Though you are gone, you still linger in the depths of my heart, and the rain serves as a doleful messenger of our separation. I search for solace in the storm, hoping to find a trace of your essence in the soft touch of the rain. In these moments of quiet sadness, I imagine you dancing with me in the rain once more, a memory etched in my heart like a timeless masterpiece. Sometimes, I wonder if you, too, remember those cherished moments we shared under the rainfall. Do the raindrops whisper the same stories to you? Does the scent of petrichor transport you back to those days when we embraced life's uncertainties together?
I sincerely hope that one of these days, I'll gather enough strength to fully embrace my old friend, the rain, with all my heart. I want to see it as a beautiful reminder of the love we once built together. I long to walk through the rain, cherishing every droplet that falls, holding onto those precious memories like treasures, and being grateful for every single moment I was blessed to spend with you. The rain will no longer be a symbol of sorrow but a celebration of the love we shared, and I'll find solace in its gentle embrace, knowing that our connection remains forever alive within my heart.
I mourn you, and you have yet to die. Years have passed, and your name still tastes bittersweet on my tongue. I do not know if you ever loved me, or if you could have had the timing been better. Time has told me nothing—it remains silent like you. I have written about you to the point of hands cramping, and you will never know which poems are about you. This is poetic secrecy at its finest, and yet I still feel more open than you ever were.

You left a thousand little ghosts in your wake. Every kindness you gave me, every quiet gesture that ruined me, you left the imprints of your fingertips across my life. And yes, there are still nights I miss you. I lay awake and watch these little ghosts haunt my memories. But I keep them safe. These last beautiful memories of you. I keep them safe.

Truthfully none of us are even asking for joy. We are just asking for a little peace. We are praying for the world to hurt us a little less, for our tired hearts to have a little rest.

Murder by Memories.
Hey, Love.
It's raining outside. As I sit by the window, in the comfort of my room, I open my whatsApp to re-read our old texts. Partly, it's because I still miss you but mostly, it's because to remind myself about why I left and why I should not miss you.
To be honest with you, I compel myself to focus only on the bad parts of our relationship while reading these text messages. Because it has already been hard enough to move on from you, I don't wanna make it more arduous by remembering the good parts. I know that I sound selfish but can you really blame me? I'm just trying my best to do whatever it takes to fix my broken heart. I have not felt like myself since the day I walked away from you. Everything that I do, every thought in my mind, and everywhere that I go reminds me about you. You've been deeply and indelibly entrenched in each and every bit of my life. You have left me with an emptiness inside of me - a void - that can never be filled.
You know that I loved you more than anything in my life and I would have done anything for you. All I ever needed was a sincere effort from you towards healing. You know that I would have stood by your side throughout the whole journey. I would've loved you the same(probably more), regardless of the outcome. I wanted you to try therapy and healing, not for the sake of myself, but for the sake of yourself and your own happiness because I have seen you carry that immense pain, tormenting grief, and agonizing sadness at the core of your heart and I couldn't just sit back and bear witness to you living in such misery. It hurt me more than it hurt you because the pain inflicted upon my heart from the despair of not being able to help the person I love the most is truly indescribable. A real tragedy, to say the least.
Perhaps, In retrospect, I feel like I just didn't know when to give up. Despite everything, I stuck by your side and blindly hoped for a miracle. My heart convinced me that maybe if I love her hard enough, I can take away her pain and sadness. I, desperately, held on to any semblance of hope that one day, everything is gonna work out - you and I, both, are gonna be happy and live the rest of our lives together. This hopeful imagination, as fleeting as it was, has been the happiest dream of my life that never came true. The night I broke up with you, I was lying on my rooftop, looked at the stars with my teary eyes and whispered to myself : "I really wish it didn't have to end this way". That's probably the saddest moment of my life.
Some days are easy and some days are really hard but there's not a single day that goes on without thinking about you. Today's one of those really hard days. Something happened today that reminded me about you, more than the usual. Needless to say, I felt a strange and hollow sensation in my heart. Felt weak and empty. For a moment, I was amazed by the fact that you still have so much power over my heart, after all this time. Makes me question myself - is there something really wrong with me that I love you so much and think about you so much, even if it hurts.
I really needed to get this off my chest. Now, I'm gonna distract myself with life until the next time when your thoughts flood my mind and drown me, again. I hope you're happy, wherever you are. I wish you nothing but the best. Take care, Love.
Miss you.❤
Goodbye.
Me and The Moon.
It's been a while since I thought of you. Tonight, I was listening to my favorite music while looking at the full moon, and suddenly, for some unknown reason, you gushed into my mind. Within a few moments, I felt almost every feeling I'd ever felt when we were together. It was truly overwhelming, but I didn't feel sad or regretful. I was rather happy. I whispered to myself, "it's been one hell of a ride, isn't it?" and laughed.
It wasn't like this before, trust me. After our break up, there were so many sleepless nights where I would desperately beg and pray to the God I don't even believe in to make me forget everything about you. It was a living hell. I thought it would never get better, but fortunately, it did. I made peace with the fact that it didn't work out between us for whatever reasons. Even after everything, if I could go back in time and change things, I wouldn't change a damn thing because they made me what I'm today. In many ways, I'm grateful to you, more than I'd care to express.
You see, it's easy to misconstrue my words and wrongly infer that I still want you back in my life. But it's not like that. My heart doesn't yearn for you anymore. In my experience, once you love someone truly, and honestly, you can never un-love them. You only find someone you will love more. I still love you but just not the way I used to. I can't put this feeling into words because words are almost always inadequate.
I have a silent bond with the moon. Only I'm aware of this unspoken relationship between me and the moon. I lie on my rooftop, far from the moon, and look at it the whole night with unending wonder and boundless joy, but the moon will never know. I may write poems and letters about how much I love the moon, but the moon will never know. I love its imperfections, craters, and even the moon's dark side with all my heart. The moon is blissfully unaware of my love, and I like it that way. Whether it's half, complete, or crescent, I love the moon all the same. I gaze at the moon and delightfully bask in its light. One day, I'll die, and all this appreciation, admiration, affection, fondness, and love I have for the moon will die with me. But the moon will never know. It's a secret that I'm going to take to my grave. See, I love you just the way I love the moon - from very far, secretly, wholly, silently, unconditionally, and holistically. BUT YOU WILL NEVER EVER KNOW.
Thanks for everything. I sincerely hope you're doing well. Take care. Goodbye.

Midnight Musings with the Moon.
Amidst the restless nights, when sleep eludes me, I seek solace in the moon's gentle glow. With its calming presence, the moon becomes my confidant, listening to my thoughts and comforting me in silence - no words, platitudes, or empty promises that everything will magically work out - just absolute stillness.
Lately, my life seems like an unending struggle that always leaves me feeling defeated. It's draining to keep marching forward with no flicker of hope in sight. Yet, I try to maintain a serene heart and choose to see the beauty in everything, even when drowning in despair. But I must confess that, at times, the burden is too much to bear, and tears roll down my face as I stare at the sky, silently praying for a miracle.
I have realized that sometimes I need to take a step back and allow myself to let it all out because my heart deserves to grieve for all the broken dreams that meant everything to me, but I eventually had to give them up despite my best efforts; all the bridges which I once thought would stand forever but have since burned down; and all the moments I held on to so tightly, but ultimately had to let go. A part of me still dearly holds on to the shattered remnants of my dreams tucked away in my tiny heart, hoping that someday I'll be strong and competent enough to fight harder for those dreams than I ever have before. Should fate deny my dreams of their promised flight, I'll still be able to look back at the small steps I took, celebrate my bravery, and reminisce about the moments when I truly felt alive.
I sincerely hope that one day, as I look up to the endless expanse of the starlit night sky, all the broken fragments of my soul will merge into a work of art so dazzling and divine that my heart can hardly imagine it. May my wounds become mere scars that remind me of the beauty of my resilience, and every tear I shed nourishes my soul's garden, yielding a bountiful harvest of love that renders every step of my journey worthwhile.
Giving up thinking about someone is far more difficult than thinking about giving up someone.
Sleepless nights.
Some nights, I find it extremely hard to fall asleep. Despite having a joyful and busy day, sleep still evades me. Sudden waves of melancholy quietly flood my heart as I lay in my bed, cluelessly. As strange as it sounds, my heart feels overwhelmingly nostalgic about all the places I haven't explored, all the people I haven't encountered, all the literature I haven't read, and all the melodies I haven't heard. There's a profound longing for something nonexistent and an intense desire to get lost in the infinite abyss of deep sleep forever. There are no words to describe this inexplicable feeling. I wonder if anyone else out there feels the same way as I do.
I hurt you and I hoped you would do hurtful things to me because I was so used to love being painful. You refused to do these things to me because you cared for me too much until finally you broke. Forgive me, my love. Pain was all I knew then, all I was comfortable with. There are so many times I looked at your kindness with suspicion, confused the melodies of your gentle words for future harm. I have known predators so long that I didn’t see an honest love for what it was. That it looked like this. That it looks like you.
- Nikita Gill, A Text I Never Sent
“I don’t miss you. I miss the bond we shared. I miss the experiences we had. For four months I felt whole, like we just fit together. Only to find out that was a lie because you weren’t being your honest self. You recognized how special I am and did anything to keep me, ultimately hurting me more in the end.”
— I wish you would’ve been honest so I wouldn’t feel this shitty over someone I don’t miss.

They say that when one door closes, another door opens. What doors have opened for you since the day you closed ours? Where do they take you? I hope the paths you walk these days are softer and brighter. Our path never was well-lit. Conversations steeped in the darkness of the night, lit up gently by smiles we couldn’t contain. I look back at our door every now and again. Your name is etched into the wood with warm light emanating from each letter, and for a moment I remember us as we were then. I hear the laughter, I see the smiles, and I remember the feeling of living. Do you ever let yourself do the same? I grasp the handle and open the door just a crack. The squeak of the hinges is the sigh of a person that hasn’t known another’s touch for years. I do not dare open it any further. I do not cross the threshold, but I make it easier for you to do so, in case you ever decide to come back. I know, it’s a tad foolish, but what can I say? I’ve never been good with goodbyes.
Maxwell Diawuoh, Once A Day (01/03/2023), Doors
The reason why i love you is because of the little things. The softness in your voice. The kindness in your heart. The heavenly feeling of your lips. The experience in your wounds. And the Magic that dances in your soul.
