⼠Reunion
Elphelt skidded to a stop, hugging only air as she teetered on the edge of tipping over. It wasnât just Ramâs sidestep or push that had thrown her off course; those words had triggered warning bells. She took a moment to collect herself before turning to face the other Valentine, her hands kneading each other nervously. â⌠of course I do, Ram. W-Why wouldnât IâŚ?â Her last memory, before arriving in Hive City, was of her dear sister calling out to her with a voice trembling with passion. And now? It seemed as if all that work, all that developmentâŚÂ
She was at a loss for words. What had happened while she was gone?
â⌠Did anything happen to you while I was⌠indisposed?â
The elder Valentine glared down at her sister, the emotions that Elphelt worked so hard to restore completely nonexistent. Her sister spoke with the intonation of a kicked magehound, the sadness evident in her entire being.Â
Ramlethalâs gaze narrowed. Her sisterâs fake emotions had no effect on her. Rather, it was her words that caught her attention. What did she mean, indisposed? The time between their deployment and her arrest? Outside of that, the two had been together, out of necessity on the opponentâs side. Her sister had betrayed Mother...
âYour question makes no sense. We have been together since the battle with Sol Badguy, the moment when you chose to betray Mother.â Despite the same emotionless tone as always, Ramlethalâs words seemed much harsher than before. âWhile your presence on that ship has been scarce, your power kept mine limited.â
