Interupted marine geometry by Dušan I. Via Flickr: This one was taken during an excursion that was organized during my final at the faculty. People from all the study groups went to that excursion. This was taken in the middle of the Mediterranean sea when we set sail from Barcelona (Spain) to Civitavecchia (Italy). Not sure if it was at the beginning of the trip, the middle or near Italy. Herengracht Canal - I by Dušan I. Via Flickr: Digging through my archive I found and scanned this negative for the first time since I have my scanner. I actually own my scanner for quite a long time but is always an issue with time or other photos to be scanned. The whole negative was very badly scanned and developed in a local "pro" photo store. The scans are useless and the negative strips has residue and scratches. Anyway, this is a photo from my trip to Holland in 2007. My parents and my little brother lived in The Hague so I visited them back then. I was at a beginning of my photographing journey. I started using film maybe the year before. That day we visited Amsterdam and I remember very well the area. I quickly managed to rediscover the exact location with Google maps (I will post the link later). I just learned after all those years that this canal is called Herengracht. This is the part where Herengracht intersects Raadhuisstraat. Here is the link to the location and the view: goo.gl/maps/RAE7BrbQChD2 It is considered to be the most important canal in the city. Herengracht (Patricians' Canal or Lords' Canal) is the first of the three major canals in the city center of Amsterdam. The canal is named after the heren regeerders who governed the city in the 16th and 17th century. In the 17th century, the richest merchants and the most influential regents and mayors of the city lived on this canal. Even today, an address on the Herengracht is seen as prestigious and chique. This view is looking towards The Hoxton hotel on the left side at number 255. It is a new hotel (2015) created in one of the most beautiful locations in the Old City center. Established in historical 17th and 19th century townhouses, this is a boutique hotel of excellent reputation. Behind me was the Bartolotti house. It's one of the most beautiful merchant's houses in Amsterdam. It was designed by municipal architect Hendrick de Keyser and built in 1617 for merchant Willem van den Heuvel, with money he inherited from his uncle Giovanni Bartolotti. After building the house, van den Heuvel had his name changed to Guillermo Bartolotti. He made his fortune as a silk merchant and banker. In his time he was one of the richest men in Amsterdam. Geographically this location is just between the Royal Palace in Amsterdam (Koninklijk Paleis Amsterdam) on the left and Westerkerk on the right. Westerkerk is a crown-topped spire rises from this Renaissance-era Protestant church where Rembrandt is buried, while the Royal Palace is a grand residence for royal receptions since 1808, open to the public & exhibitions when not in use. __ Herengracht canal, Amsterdam, Holland Praktica PL Nova IB + Pentacon Multi Coating f2.8 29mm (probably) + EFKE KB 100 (+ maybe yellow filter) @ 1/125s and f16 Scanned with Epson V600 Photo in 2018 __
