you know i was wondering if there was any chance baldur really did know who kratos was when they fought at the house but im pretty sure he didnt now, cause although baldur says “your definitly the one” which makes you think he knows kratos is a god from greece, which when we hear intimidating people say that in games, like the main villain say that we’re pretty sure the fuckers right however when baldur says:

 “long way from home aren’t you?” it really could mean he knew he was from sparta 

and

“thought you’d be bigger” could’ve meant how ares and zeus, even kratos when he was the god of war, were able to make their forms larger.

its even shown by freya and mimir that gods can tell gods from mortals - freya says “i know your a god, not of this realm but another” which could mean she thought he might’ve been from one of the other 8 realms which might trash this point … this might be a skill of like? only some gods, like intelegence based gods or something? cause baldur and kratos cant use this kind of skill, atreus cant really but that might be chalked up to him not knowing he were a god and thinking kratos were a man.

but when fighting kratos the first time baldur says 

“im not my brother, if you’d given me what i wanted it wouldn’t have ended this way”

refering to how thor killed the giants indiscriminately, probably meaning that - if this were told to an actual giant - it would show he was so much less of a threat, however kratos doesnt react, either suggesting to baldur that he is ‘over confident’ or ‘hard headed’ in his own view - how could a giant kill a god? kinda thing? i dont fully know what im talking about but its a really interesting way they pulled this off because it makes you think through this whole time that baldur was after kratos because he was an outsider, but reveals he was after the mother right from the start. it throws some hints at you which at the start dont make sense ie “i thought your kind were meant to be so enlightened” which your first thought is ‘were the greek pantheon more enlightened?’  and how badur says “you already know why im here” referring to the giants ability to see prophecy which as someone who hasn’t played the game you’re like “what the fuck that dont make sense” but at the end its just like ‘OH!! that makes sense! if baldur thought kratos was the guardian of course he would say that kind of stuff’

weirdly in the fight both baldur and kratos show their healing abilities, which is odd that baldur didnt take up on this, im sure giants couldnt typically do this but we dont know that much about what the giants can do bar seeing prophecies 

so here my take on this, cause its legit been buzzing around my head for a while and watching a clip of the first fight really kinda ansswered it for me
