Gonna chill out the rest of May and then change my entire life in June. Possibly July if that doesn't work out. Certainly no later than September or October.
I’m sure there r many things to rightfully critique abt this season of severance but unfortunately i cant know or care abt any of them because they sorted my tempers into the fiber of every episode before production, and that’s why it took 3 years
She wasn’t me. How could you not see that?

I've been back at work for less than a full day after almost 2 weeks off (bc I technically worked a few days over the holidays but let's be real, no I didn't) and I already feel a ball of anxiety in my chest.
The break was so nice, and even though it meant no daycare for 10 days, I'd rather deal with 2 toddlers full time than think about my current job.
I'm in the middle of interviewing for a job I really want. I've heard that I'm one of three finalists. I'm almost confident that I'll get it, but I'm never fully confident in myself, so don't want to get my hopes up, especially knowing that I have some competition. I haven't heard yet when the final round will be, which is sort of adding to my anxiety, but I'm trying to channel that energy into preparing.
If the job doesn't work out, I am setting a goal for myself of securing 2 contract clients/projects by March - and then I'd quit my current job. I know I can do it, I just need to figure out what people would actually want me to help them with and how to position myself - I've got a lot of good contacts and good experience, but very generalist experience. And I think it would be irresponsible to lose my entire income with 2 kids, so won't leave until I have at least something coming in.
(Thinking about when I quit my first job at 25 yrs old bc I hated it and knew I'd eventually find another one, then was unemployed for 6 months lmao - but that's what eventually got me into the energy industry so it worked out)

Hands down the best thing about this year was watching these two develop their own little relationship. They’ve loved each other pretty much since we brought Lucy home from the hospital, but since she started walking and now talking a bit, they’re actually playing with each other more (which gives us like a 5 minute break every now and then!). Sebastian loves making her laugh, and Lucy’s an easy audience because she thinks he’s hilarious. They already have their own inside jokes. Sebastian calls her “my baby” and she calls him “Shesha” (or something like that) and gets so excited when she sees him coming down the hall at daycare pickup. He shares food with her when she’s still hungry, and she loves giving him hugs.
They sometimes fight over who gets a toy or a book, but (for now) it’s pretty rare.
I feel lucky get to witness them both becoming little people, and just hope they stay close as they get older.
This morning while we were getting ready for school, Sebastian was blabbering on about friends in his class, as he often does. It's usually sort of incoherent stories about how they were playing, but this morning it went into "and they were screaming at me and that's why they hate me." He was so casual and nonchalant, not upset at all, but I stopped in my tracks (mid lunchbox making) and just said "what?!"
Alejandro was more articulate and told him, "it's okay, nobody hates you" and that it's a big word we shouldn't use about people. He just responded "oh okay!" and went on talking about something else.
He's never said the word "hate" before and I don't know if he even realizes what it means yet, and the friends he was talking about definitely do not hate him, they're his best friends at school. I know it was just toddlers being toddlers, if it even happened at all. But I started tearing up at the thought of anybody being mean to my sweet perfect innocent boy.
He's only 3 years old - I'm not ready for him to have to face hard realities that are out of his control or mine yet. I know he won't be perfect and innocent forever, but I hope he stays as sweet as he is now. Having little kids is so hard, but I can feel it going too fast, too. We are really trying to savor it, especially since Lucy is unbelievably already not a baby anymore. I can already feel our little protective bubble starting to burst, and I just want to keep us floating along for as long as possible.

This is probably going to jinx it but at 14 months, Lucy is finally consistently sleeping through the night. It’s been a full 3 weeks now 🙏🙏🙏
Think it was a combo of her getting past a month of teething where she got like 8 teeth in a row and me giving her a water bottle in her crib instead of getting up and giving her a bottle of milk to get her back to sleep.
Now if we could just get her, Sebastian, and Seven to all make it through on the same night, we’ll be in business (aka getting uninterrupted sleep for the first time in like a year and a half bc I was waking up every night my last trimester before Lucy was even born)
It took 4.5 years, but Covid finally got us. Alejandro & I both came down with symptoms at the exact same time (Tuesday morning) after getting an email that there had been a confirmed case in Sebastian's class on Monday. As far as we know, we haven't had it before - we've never tested positive at least.
Both kids seem okay, but I suspect one of them had it without symptoms (thankfully) and gave to us. Or we got it from one of the two toddler b-day parties we attended on Sunday. We luckily seem to be on the mend - Tuesday afternoon and all day Wednesday were the worst of it. We'd been meaning to get the latest vax but hadn't gotten around to it. Next time we won't procrastinate!
and so it goes by billy joel. you agree. reblog
Things Sebastian has requested to sleep with:
For a while it was all kinds of sporting goods:
- 3-4 different soccer balls, 2-3 tennis rackets, basketball, football, baseball glove, plastic baseball bat - sometimes all at the same time
- his luchador masks (he has 3)
- Seven (he started asking for her a few months ago and now she just does goes to his bed at bedtime
- various t-shirts & hats
- a spider man piñata my MIL brought up from Mexico
- different books, but lately it’s my copy of The Magic Blanket, a book my mom read to me as a kid and mailed to me a few months ago
- and tonight it was: an apple that he took out of the fridge and had been holding since he got home from daycare (they’ve been talking about Johnny Appleseed in his class this week)
Lucy’s been home from daycare with a fever for three days now and while I could not handle being a stay at home mom, it’s been nice having some 1-1 time with her. I wish I could just not work and be able to have random hangs with her and Sebastian. And not be trying to schedule calls during nap time and distract them so I can answer emails. I think I just don’t want to work. I’m so over working.
