A few months ago, I had a small epiphany on how the arts tend to work in this country. There's a whole separate economy flowing under the arts.

Winning an award both gave me something and took something away.

Their teacher just wanted them to be positive all the time. I think we missed a big opportunity. (Inspired by a performance at BAM a few months ago.)

I had this dream a few weeks after I won the award. Haven't worried about it since but thought I'd share the post-win psychological moment.

Remember in that earlier blog when I said I really wanted to see a scene between Fiona Shaw and Kathryn Hunter? Well, I got one! But....

For everyone asking me if I'd seen Hamnet yet. Well, I have now. And, yes, of course I have thoughts!

Winning made me especially grateful for all the people who were by my side as I was losing.

How many milestones can I cross this year? A lot so far!!

One month ago to the day, I wrote this in the airport as I waited to board a plane to Los Angeles.

The odds of a young man winning an Oscar are not nearly as good as a young woman winning an Oscar. And her odds go up if she plays a sex worker.
