Either full albums or searching for individual songs. I often want to listen to a specific song or mutiple songs in a specific order, and wonβt feel satisfied if I donβt. But I donβt usually loop them.

Hello!! I'm Kei, I'm studying to become a nurse in the coming years with a focus on neurodisability.
I have been working on doing an independent research project for a while, looking at some core areas of life and how they compare between autistic and non-autistic people.
For this part of my work, I've put together a small questionnaire anyone is welcome to take part in, whether you're autistic, not autistic, diagnosed or not, all are welcome and valued for research!
Emails are not collected and personal identifiable data is not either, results will be handled solely by myself and used for research purposes.

getting into hobbies because of percieved sustainability is so dangerous when ur autistic, adhd or otherwise prone to obsessive interests
"i hate how pens run out so quick, i should get a refillable fountain pen and a bottle of ink!" .... and then suddenly you have more fountain pens and inks than you ever had disposable pens...
"i should get some nice IEMs because if the cable breaks, i can just buy a new cable and dont have to replace the whole thing!" ...but when the cable breaks, you find yourself eyeing a whole new set of IEMs instead of just a cable...
Most people don't realize how ableist and demeaning their idea of "maturity" really is.
They see it as a linear scale, measuring how close your behavior is to what they expect of you. They push their values and ideas onto you and if you don't comply with them, they call you immature.
Yes, I am autistic, and no, I will never be like you want me to. No, I don't lack behind in my development. There are things I might never be able to do, while I also might never have to struggle with something that is your biggest problem to this day. I am not like you. You have no right to judge me. You have no right to tell me how I ought to be.
In reality, a generalized concept of maturity does not exist. Development is not one-dimensional and linear. You can be what one would consider highly advanced in one aspect, while struggling with basic forms of another aspect. You can take a step back in your journey. Your life doesn't have to fit on a straight line.
Don't blindly climb the ladder of adulthood, because you will inevitably fall. Don't follow their lead just so they don't devalue and infantilize you. If their help was of any worth to begin with, they would not demand anything in return for their respect.
really enamored with an offhand remark i heard where folk horror was described as "pragmatic". i love that. horror that doesnt have time to waste on "but ghosts arent real! but monsters cant exist! what is happening! how can this be!". horror where you hear a howl in the distance and go to gather the wolfsbane and silver because six inch fangs ripping into your neck dont care if youre a believer or not. horror where the impossible nightmare is real because its here and, as is often the case in folk horror, it has been here much longer than you.
Does anyone else hate the fact that so much of the adviceβ’ geared toward autistic people these days is just masking repackaged as good and empowering?
"Social skills are just that - skills! You can learn to read social cues! You can practice small talk by just making yourself do it every time you go out! Ik you're autistic, but you need to make eye contact with your cashier bc not doing so is rude. Come on, it's an explanation, not an excuse. Just force yourself to keep improving until it comes naturally to you!"
These are all facets of masking. While masking isn't inherently bad--it does come with advantages, like helping us blend in--it's not possible for all autistic people. Also, even for those of us who can do it, it has to be done in moderation bc it is not healthy. It can get easier, but it will never come naturally to us.
Enough telling autistic people to cater to the world. Having to pretend you're someone you're not will never be a form of self-care. It's just survival.
Losing a friend because of undiagnosed and unaccommodated autism fucking sucks.
Like, do you really think this right now is who I am as a person, when I can't even eat anything because I'm so stressed? Do you really expect me to be myself, while my brain still needs to make the connection between you and the person I text with all the time, but never spoke to? In this enviroment, where all I need is someone to cling to, no matter who it is, just to endure it? Is it really my fault that I didn't know about all of this when it happened?
I want to tell you all about it and it's driving me crazy, because if I started talking to you again, it would only make it worse for you and reinforce your misconceptions about me.

The development of humanity within the last 10,000 years is crazy compared to how almost nothing happened before. It's like we went from being hunter-gatherers for all of our existence to starting settlements and agriculture just yesterday and today we live in this insane connected world that doesn't resemble our nature at all. It makes so much sense that this many people are overwhelmed by life.
Like, of course technological and scientific progress is a good thing in general, but I think it really makes sense for us to look at how people used to live and take inspiration from that in some aspects.
my dad consistently calls noahfinnce 'noah fence'. today instead he called him noah funce. he genuinely cannot remember noah's name and i don't know if this counts as getting closer or further away from saying it right..
this reminds me of that one radio host who alternated between calling him "noahfence", "noahfinnace" and "noahfinance"
My friend put her hand out to take back her umbrella, and I looked at her hand for a solid second, something pinged in my brain, and I fulfilled her obvious request of a "down low" high five. This was the incorrect response.
