I first saw a studio ghibli movie about half a year ago, and I instantly fell in love with them. There is something about how the tiny moments are captured - like water rippling over stones in the sunlight, or the sounds of the food being cooked - it makes me feel so at peace. There is such a sense of safety and comfort. The people are so good and simple and kind, and the stories have a whimsical, magical air that reminds me of how I saw life as a young child. The films make me look and appreciate things in my own cluttered life a little more, and to enjoy the quiet, peaceful moments I get. I haven't really seen any other films that have managed to achieve that same level of comfort and peace as studio ghibli movies.
