You're a new face in town, the new science teacher at the Henry Emily Institute (A fancy name for the equally fancy middle school), finally moving out on your own after years of staying in your college town, and you have little to your name. But fortunately, in this future, the government has realized that teachers are actually kind of important! You were quickly hired after a laughably brief meeting they called an interview, but hey, who were you to turn down a job at the shiny middle school with most of the staff being animatronics! Sure, you were a teacher, but getting to work around such beautiful pieces of machinery had piqued your interest more than teaching about Mitochondria.
