Rarity was never supposed to die and Spike finally has a chance to go back and fix everything, but will Twilight Sparkle stop him?
Rejected from EqD, because the pre-reader didn't like my style of pacing.

So here's my review of the review of my short fimfiction, Timeless. Here, the pre-reader focuses on a stylistic choice that he/she personally doesn't like and treats that choice as an error. (I wish I'd kept the review of The Love Of Shadow And Night, because I'd like to point out how editors tend to confuse their personal preferences in style with actual mistakes with more than this one example.)
Both of those stories get consistently positive comments, favorites, and likes from readers. Which goes to show that these are in fact very well written stories - I just have a hard time driving readers to them.
If your story gets rejected, don't assume the editor knows what he or she is talking about (this one has never actually written a story) and don't get discouraged. Keep in mind that editors/pre-readers often reject stories based solely on personal preferences for particular styles of writing and not for any actual errors you've made.
If you've got readers, you're doing it right. :) Keep up the great work and keep going. If one editor rejects you, then find another one. I really dig Canterlot's Finest right now.
Pretty much sums up my issues with editors in general, not just Equestria Daily editors and pre-readers.
