Ok, as a writer who ALSO loves using em dashes to denote a sudden cessation of speech, and as an editor, I am BEGGING whoever typesets the files for JLA's physical books:
Use nonbreaking spaces between em dashes and closing double quotation marks. PLEASE. FOR THE LOVE OF GOD. I cannot handle multiple instances of an em dash at the end of one line and the closing quotation marks at the beginning of the next.
This is torture and I hate it.
