I was having a discussion with my mother this evening about fan fiction. It was long and heated and I won’t go into detail but we did fall upon the topic of characterisation.

I made the comment “when writing pre-existing characters (IE. those used in fanfiction, so already exist in book/tv form) I can picture them in my head saying what I type. I can see when something works or doesn’t work…

We are taught from a young age that we are all unique. That in a crowd of people, no two will be exactly alike and that is okay! We are taught to accept one another in all our individuality and to praise one another when embracing those differences. We are taught to accept that people are flawed and we make mistakes. We are taught that we are imperfect. That /noone/ is perfect.

This year I’m going to be attempting nanowrimo again but with a slightly different take on things. Technically, it’s supposed to be that by the end of the month you’ve written 50,000 words by writing a certain amount every day.
