Nine times out of ten, when someone says "fuck canon, fanon rules", the 'fanon' is really just another canon - specifically, Migratory Slash Fandom tropes and archetypes. The fanon isn't just 'predictable', it's flat out unoriginal; it's the same exact collection of tropes and archetypes getting dragged through fandom after fandom,

i found i dont like referring to this as a headcanon cuz i feel it gives space for people to dismiss it. headcanon implies sth created for fun & created solely for the sake of it. u dont see people justifying a reason on why harry is headcanoned constantly as desi or hermione as black because of the nature of it - theres no textual or narrative root why, fandom just collectively decided one day that’s who theyre going to be now. meanwhile transfem draco, to me, is direct interpretation & reading of character & not sth as comparably petty as a headcanon that can exist isolated from the text cuz of how unintegrated it is
