When it comes to the Sacred Twenty-Eight, I believe that a lot of the in-universe discrepancies on the list can be explained away by saying that the author was actually naming a series of Houses that held similar anti-Grindelwald sentiments as he did, and that it actually had very little to do with who was ‘truly’ pureblood and who was not. As a result, while I believe that the Shacklebolts are an old wizarding family and that Kingsley himself is a pureblood (and also a Slytherin!), the family as a whole is more similar to the Abbots in regards to its stance on intermarriage with muggleborns and half-bloods.

And while I refuse to believe that Ilvermorny exists purely on principle, I do still think that there’s a Gaunt squib line still alive in America because it allows me to headcanon that Merope’s plan of escape was to head there and live with them.

Disregard. For one, I don’t think that I even watched the one where it was revealed that that happened (or if I did, I barely remember it). And two, I think an Albus who purposely chooses not to enter a highly political conflict until he no longer has the option to stay on the sidelines simply because he doesn’t want to stir up shit with his ex is a lot more interesting than someone who wanted to but can’t because he’s hampered by some pinky promise spell he made when he was a teenager.

I think that Arthur died in his seventies, as I don’t think that he escaped Nagini’s attack completely unscathed. Molly lasted a bit longer, and passed sometime in her late eighties.

As for in-universe… I really doubt that Rita would keep such a juicy bit of gossip to herself had she known about it (especially because the British WW of the 90s is likely about as homophobic as the irl UK was in the 90s, if not more). And Harry was searching for information about Albus’s past at the time, so I do think that it’s likely that he read the whole book sometime over the course of the multiple months that he spent doing fuck all in the stupid fucking tent. So if Harry doesn’t know, then it’s likely that Rita doesn’t know, which means that Dumbledore was never outed posthumously for being attracted to men, let alone having a Summer of Love with an eventual dictator when he was a teenager.

Someone Albus with a lot of power in the courts probably thought that sending him to the torture prison wasn’t okay.

Maybe? She does rip other properties off a lot throughout her books and does seem to have a lot of distain for the fantasy/sci-fi genre in general (as she clearly wants to be a mystery writer), so I wouldn’t put it past her to have been ‘inspired’ by the X-Men movies that were coming out around the same time as the HP movies when it comes to Albus and Grindelwald.
