My Tips for Clicker Training

First off, let me begin by saying these are just my own personal tips for clicker training, and not an Official Guide to Clicker Training Your Hypnotic Subject by Jukebox. You may find methods that work better for you, you may find methods that interest you more or hit your personal hot buttons harder or what have you. These are just things Iāve found that have worked for me.
Second, let me make it very clear that this is something that should only be done with an enthusiastically consenting partner, and it does need to involve some serious discussion of what might happen if permanent behavioral changes occur and what, realistically, you can ask your sub to do. This is a form of brainwashing, and while there really isnāt a whole lot of research out there on what can actually be achieved through ethical and consensual brainwashing, it is much wiser to assume that anything youāre talking about doing is really going to work and plan accordingly than to assume that hey, itās just fine to train your subject to strip naked any time they hear a Backstreet Boys song because itās not like this really does anything, only to hear āI Want It That Wayā playing in a hotel lobby and discover the hard way that youāve really embedded a permanent and irresistible suggestion into someoneās head.
Third, this is certainly not the only form of behavioral modification training, and Iām not going to call it the best, either. In all probability, if this interests you (and your enthusiastically consenting partner) itās because youāve got a bit of a degradation fetish - which is, as Iāve mentioned in the past, distinct and separate from a humiliation fetish - and you want them to get that hit of feeling like a dumb animal. Thatās something you want to bring up in negotiation because it is probably going to evoke something like that whether you intend it to or not and if you donāt want that, this isnāt the best method to use.
All that said, hereās the basics. Clicker training is, traditionally, a form of operant conditioning, usually used with dogs and other animals, in which you make a distinctive noise (generally a click from a mechanical device) as your pet performs the desired behavior. You then immediately follow that up with a treat of some sort, food or praise or affection, in order to reinforce that behavior, thus increasing the likelihood that the animal will do it again. And in kink, that animal is a human, and that human is your submissive.
Now, I will admit that I find the actual clickers they use for dog training to be intolerably loud (theyāre basically pieces of bent metal that you push until they pop into a new shape) so Iād recommend a tally counter as an alternative. You can find these at a number of office supply stores (hereās one from Staples as an example) and not only do they give a quieter, more subtle clicking sound, but they also handily tally the number of times youāve indicated the desired behavior and hence the amount of conditioning youāve done, which can be kind of hot in and of itself.
Typically with dogs and cats, you use food as a reward, and that can work with humans, too, but Iām hypnokinky and disgustingly lazy, so I decided very early on that it would be easier to simply turn the click into its own reward. The method for this is very simple - you just put the subject into a deep trance, and have them imagine or remember the strongest pleasure they can think of (or, if you like, you can directly stimulate them into a very pleasurable state). Then once that pleasure is as bright and strong and clear in their mind as possible, you click the clicker and tell them to associate that click with a brief sensation of the feeling theyāre experiencing. Youāll probably need to reinforce this a few times while theyāre under, but once the trigger is installed, every time you click theyāll get an intense hit of pure pleasure that will serve as a reinforcer of the desired behavior.
At that point, you can use this in conjunction with whatever methods of training you were already using, to reinforce whatever behavior you wanted them to do. Just click the clicker whenever the sub obeys, and it will help to encourage them to follow commands and also make them feel (as previously mentioned) very much like a pet and not a person. Which is, if thatās their kink, going to make them very happy and eager to keep doing what you want. And hopefully, thatās your kink too, because if it wasnāt, why would you go to all that effort?
And naturally, youāll want to install the usual safety suggestions - āwhen Iām holding this clickerā, āwhen you feel safe and comfortableā, and other things to make sure they donāt wind up shuddering with pleasure every time someoneās doing inventory at the warehouse. But as long as you follow the general guidelines for safe and respectful hypnoplay, this can be a lovely way to incorporate a very delightful and particular flavor to the training of your favorite submissive.
