This morning, I recieved a commission petition, I chatted with this person and settled the price.

When this person "sent" me the money, PayPal supposedly withheld it and added an extra $100 for an alleged tax. His excuse was that I had to reimburse him $100 OUT OF MY OWN POCKET so that my payment would be received.

What I started to find strange was how precisely they were guiding me through every step. A supposed Gmail message landed in my SPAM FOLDER. At first, it was in English (I’m from Argentina), and when I mentioned this to them, the email magically switched to Spanish without needing to be translated.

That’s when I realized they were trying to phishing me. Gmail itself warned me. I decided to block the person, but not before saving all the evidence of our conversation and the email they sent.

Please be very careful—they made me believe I would be arrested if I didn’t return the refund, which is a lie. This is my first time getting comms in dollars. Thank you very much.

AO3 SCAM

There's been a number of people reporting over on the AO3 subreddit that they're getting messages like this posted in the comments shortly after posting new fics.

The AO3 team are NEVER going to try and contact you about TOS violations via the comment section (or about anything else for that matter)

Don't click any links. Report the accounts involved (which might claim to be things like "LucySupport"), delete the message and move on.

Please just stop using ai.

If you cannot draw or paint, then commission someone who can. And take up drawing and painting anyway so that you develop a skill that you can enjoy for yourself!!

Same goes for writing, we all start somewhere.

I don't want to read a story that is plagiarising others writing because that is what ai does.

I want to read a story that was imagined by a real genuine freak of a human being.
