Khajiit, assemble!

I got in!

Well, not into the veterinary programme, but I DID get into the nurse one, sooo yeah. I’ll be back at university in two weeks from now, and I’ll be a nurse except for animals, not people. It’s apparently called a “Bachelor’s Degree in Veterinary Nursing”.

WHOOP!

I successfully attended, completed and survived the 2017 European Kyudo Seminar in Telford, UK!

Woho!

IT. WAS. AMAZING. Three intense days of training under the supervision of 8th dan masters from Japan. They were ridiculously good (surprise, surprise)... But also very helpful and quite funny. I really do feel that I improved.

I finished my courses with better-than-expected grades in all four, and I’ve sent in my application so now all I can do is wait until the preliminary results in mid-July.

It’s mostly really basic stuff that I still remember from school back in the days *old and wise* Like “everything is built with atoms!” and “water and ice are the same substance!” sooo no problems yet.

It felt amazing.

The story’s about four kids who encounter a ghost and start looking into the history of the local library. I found some old kid books at home, a series by Allan Frewin Jones, and re-read them and got super inspired and sat down and wrote this thing xD It’s a nice series, by the way, though obviously not as scary now as when I was... like... eight.

Anyway, I had soooooo much fun!

Just saying. These days it’s really rare for me to get into a creative project like I did with this story, so I’m extremely happy about it... And I’m working on a second one. Oh yes. This’ll be a series. They’re short, fun and easy to write, and there’s no end to the supply of applicable ghost stories ^^ Plus I’m really looking forward to writing the kids as they grow older. They’ve got interesting dynamics.

So yeah.

I’ve applied to courses for this fall. 

I’M GONNA START STUDYING AGAIN.

I’m gonna read Chemistry and Physics this fall/winter (the joy), and if I manage to finish on time I’m gonna apply to the vet programme next spring. I wanted to be a vet when I was younger and it seems the idea is back. Yeap.

It’s taken a long time to figure ut what the hell I want to do, especially after I crashed and burned last time I tried, but this feels right. It does. I mentioned it to a colleague the other day and she said I’d be perfect for it ^^ I’ve worked at the nursing home long enough to know that I’ve got the temperament for healthcare, but I don’t want to be around sick people permanently. In other words: kittens and puppies!

My chief concern is that I might not manage to get in. It’s supposedly super difficult. But hey, all I can do is try.

So good.

There’s an obvious lack of black sails, though xD 

 It’s got GoT level intrigues, but between characters rather than nations = they can keep the story in a relatively small area, and the characters have to be really well written. And they are. Soooo good. I love it. It’s rare to find a show with so many likeable characters. Okay, some of them are likeable in the way that you hate them but still care about what happens to them. Some you just love and cheer for every chance you get. There are all sorts.

Hmm.

The other day was like that. My flatmate specifically told me that he’d do all the cleaning just to give me time to sit down and draw. Feeling guilty, I sat down with my drawing pad and just stared at it for a while, before I forced myself to start sketching just so I’d at least try to make use of the time I’d been given. A couple of hours later I’d produced linearts for eight character bookmarks, which I then spent eight hours straight colouring yesterday.

On some days, though, I sketch an eye or a foot and then I just feel like tearing everything I’ve ever drawn into tiny, tiny bits and feed them to... something that eats paper.

RIP, Mr David Bowie.

I felt had to somehow do something when Bowie passed away earlier this year, so I drew this. It’s an A3 copy of the cover for Low, done with colour pencils, that now hangs on my wall.
