And ... I'm diving into the deep end.

One of the essays rolling around in my head to write is the exploration of the idea that philosophies + religions of restraint, suppression, +/or detachment are historically born out of + rise through collective cultural traumas (this can be mapped) + continue to attract the traumatized, who seek to assuage feelings of uncertainty + discomfort - the distress fuelled by a deep mistrust in the self + others - through attempts at "mastery" to control + dominate the triggers - passion, desire, sorrow, envy, grief (linking rather neatly into PTSD/C-PTSD avoidance behaviors).
