(this ask is referring to my post about the theory that paul leskowitz is trans & how marvin's abuse -- while it did not and could not cause paul to become trans -- warrants a trauma-informed discussion about gender expression and ptsd.)

aww tysm for this kind ask! i tried very hard to be as sensitive as possible with that post when crafting it, as i really wanted to provoke a dialogue but i wanted even moreso to avoid feeding into anything harmful.

nexpo's theory video on petscop brought a lot of people (me included!) into this fandom, and that's such a cool thing. regrettably, though, he also pushed some ideas that suggest some harmful things about transgender people and trauma.

the idea that marvin took an amab child and tried to force said child into being a girl -- certainly that sort of abuse exists, but it doesn't sit well as a "plot tool." similarly to how, yes, alters in a did/osdd system are capable of being aggressive/antagonistic, the usage of them as a "gotcha!" twist/plot device in media perpetuates extremely dangerous stereotypes.

it is canon that marvin was abusing his child, and that said abuse involved trying to warp their sense of self. trying to navigate that minefield in a way that isn't transphobic is hard, but i think it's possible, and that it ultimately gives us a richer story when explained correctly ... unlike nexpo did.
