Four feet of snow, massive drifts…powdery, too, so that you couldn’t walk anywhere. The horses refused to budge, and nor, thus, would the carriages. The roads were blanketed thickly enough to pose problems for a solid week, and Pandora was, like a bunker, shut down from the lint bundles under the beds to the very tips of the chimneys. Oz and company had stopped by to chat with Reim and Sharon before the bulk of the holidays began, but now found themselves unable to depart for reasons besides the allure of tea and crumpets. Gilbert had wanted to shlep Oz and Alice to his apartment for gifts and things… he’d even purchased a half-bush to bury under his collection of Christmas ornaments, but now, what with the snow, that was out of the question.
