In this course, and many other English courses I have taken I have learned many different writing processes.Ā Luckily, my writing is not limited to just this course.Ā I can use these processes that I have learned when writing papers for other classes, when I have a job some day that requires me to write anything formal or even just a letter that I have to write.
I also said I can use the process for other classes, but I didn't think about writing letters or future jobs. That's a really cool way to look at it!
journal 13
āHow can I translate my writing process to other work outside of this classroom?ā
Outside of the classroom, I can use my writing process when writing for fun or for other teachers. I think my new process will be helpful to use on research assignments. Another way I could use it is just with life in general. When you have a goal, you can make an outline, plan how you're going to achieve it, edit a little, then finish.Ā

The most challenging assignment for me this semester would have to be the rhetorical analysis. It was enjoyable, but doing the research and putting aside my opinions was difficult.Ā
I donāt think itās super improved, but my abilities to write faster have improved, if that makes sense. The deadlines really creep up on you.Ā
Journal 12
This semester the Rhetorical Analysis was my most challenging assignmnet. This was the most challenging because this was something that I have never heard of and had to adjust to. I had to really take out my opinion whe typing this paper and I had to really present myself with confidence in my research findings.
I do feel that my writing has improved this semester. I believe my Introduction and Conclusion paragraphs have become better and I believe that I have figured out how to dissolve irrelevant information out of my papers. Sometimes I feel some information that I add is unnessecary and I have picked up on it a lot this sememter.
The rhetorical analysis assignment was also really difficult for me, it was hard to take my opinions out of the writing.Ā

The counter-argument Iām planning on refuting is the idea that kids should just learn to sit still and focus on their work.Ā
- Studies have proven that breaks through the day like recess and using imagination helps kids process and learn faster.
- The people who come up with this argument are biased and base all of their opinions on their own experiences in school.Ā
The counter-argument made focuses on pathos appeals, so Iāll be focusing on logos to refute it.Ā

In the article,Ā āTo Save The Climate, Look To The Oceans,ā the author does not use ethos enough. By using ethos more she can develop her ideas more and make her information and article more credible. I will be using this as my counter argument in my infographic. Ironically she also didnāt involve a counter argument in her article, being that incorporating some of her ideas and solutions may affect the environment even more depending on locations as they can get in the way of migratory patterns. I also am considering including that.
I think that's a really good plan for a counter argument!! Your points are very smart!! I really don't think there's anything else you need to address, you seem to have all your stuff together!Ā

Evaluating sources before researching, or taking in new knowledge, is very important because the internet is filled with incredible sources, that are edited, opinion-based, bias, etc,. Wikipedia is a great example, It is very easy to edit and distort the truth. Throughout my education, we were told to use websites ending in .edu, or, gov, and use scholarly websites such as google scholar (authority). Things such as looking at when the article was written (currency), the reliability and trustworthiness ( accuracy) the importance of the information you are reading ( relevance ) are key septs in determining if a source is credible or not,
I was also told to use the .edu, .gov, and .org sites! I find that to be the most reliable way to tell if a piece of information is credible, but considering the date it was published is also a good way of finding out if it is truthful.Ā
journal ten
Itās important to evaluate a source to discover if it is truthful and unbiased. The most important thing I was reminded of was that as the researcher, you should pay attention to the date the article or book was published, as new details or arguments may have been created since then.Ā
This knowledge will definitely make me pay closer attention to the articles I read and consider to use while researching. Iāll consider when it was written and the beliefs at the time, and the influences that were most prominent.Ā

https://www.weforum.org/agenda/2019/08/here-are-5-reasons-why-the-ocean-is-so-important/
I found this article called,Ā āHere are 5 reasons why the ocean is so importantā. This article is written by Sean Fleming who reaches out to his audience about the five main reasons why the ocean is crucial to life on earth. This article would appeal to anybody who is interested in protecting our oceans and to the age group of older teens and up. He goes through each topic in order 1-5 and provides multiple statistics for each one. He even provides a graph for the reader under the topic,Ā āit helps regulate the climateā. This article definitely supports the argument of my original article. They both connect ways how the oceans are so important to our climate and ways we use the ocean in a positive way.Ā
Your title page design is so pretty!! It made me actually check out the article, which was really interesting to read. I love how simple your title page is, and the fish in the back are really cute!!Ā

I decided to use the same article that I used for project two. I also found another article that agrees with my original article, and states that children do need more playtime in order to develop into functioning adults.Ā

I found this infographic on easel.ly and the intended audience are people who donāt know how to detect fake news. The purpose of this image is to educate the reader on the consequences of trusting fake news as a credible source. This infographic uses rhetorical appeals such as ethos when talking about what ACC Professors require. This also uses pathos when stating, ātrusting these false stories could lead you to make decisions that may be harmful to your healthā. The author uses repitition to make their argument by continuously stating that fake news is harmful. The author also uses proximity when grouping his explanations into three separate categories; many believe fake news articles, fake news can affect your grades and fake news can be harmful to your health. Personally, this image enhances my knowledge on the many ways fake news can be harmful to individuals.
I really like this adās layout, the proximity makes it easy to understand and read. I agree that the ad uses pathos in the āharmful for your healthā claim, and the repetition really drives the point home to the intended audience.Ā

I think everyone remembers this ad that started popping up in September of 2019. I realize its not just an image, but the video is filled with rhetorical appeals and is very important to me.Ā
This video was an ad on YouTube last year. The intended audience was everyone, but more specifically people going back to school. Students, teachers, and parents. The purpose was honestly to scare people and show them that school shootings were becoming a common occurrence, but can be stopped if people learned the warning signs.
The video employs strong pathos appeals, and really lays it on thick at the end with the girl trapped in a bathroom stall. TheĀ āI love you momā text is something no one wants to have to send, and you can feel the dread in your chest when the door opens. Even in this still of the video, the teacher in the back is hurriedly locking the door, contrasting with the girl holding up her binders. The picture causes confusion, and fear.Ā
The whole ad is filled with the CRAP design. There is contrast throughout the video, with students talking about the cool things they got for school, but using them in ways of defense against a shooter. There is repetition in the kids each saying what item they got for school and how they're using them.Ā
This ad affects my understanding of the education field by really showing me the danger of it. Iām considering becoming an education major, and if I do, I might have to face this in real life. Its scary enough being a student and this being a possibility, but I couldn't imagine being a teacher.Ā

A piece of advice that stuck out to me in this article is that a "a memorable sentence makes immediate sense but sounds just slighty odd." This stuck out to me because as I began to think about that statement it became true. Things that stick out to us, or me at least, are things that aren't usually or aren't heard everyday. For instance the article quoted Kate Moss, "Nothing taste as good as skinny feels." I learned that using this type of sentence a good way to put a lasting impression on the reader and to also keep them involved with your reading.
That piece of advice also seemed strange to me. It made sense the more I thought about it, but I couldn't help wondering what made a sentence odd, or if every sentence has to be slightly odd. It was a strange piece of advice that I wonāt forget any time soon.Ā
journal 7
A piece of advice from the article that stuck out to me was āmake each sentence worth reading.ā I think it stuck out because its a strong line, and sometimes there really are sentences in pieces of writing that make the reader goĀ āreally? what was the point of that?ā and pull them out of the piece.Ā
I think this quote is going to stick with me for a while, sometimes I write sentences just to fill space but I need to work on making them worth reading.Ā

What I found very interesting in the article was the stats they give you about the readerās interests in this exploding digital universe. What I also found interesting was all the different ways to help make your writing better. Iāve heard some of them before, but one I never heard before was the incorporate multimedia. I wouldnāt think to put any pictures or videos in my writing. I think these techniques are very important because when following these rules, you come out with better writing that people can understand. Following the inverted pyramid and having short and simple sentences and leaving the reader wanting more can really help your audience understand the point you were trying to make without the audience having to reread or really try to think about what you were trying to say.
I also wouldn't think to put photos into my writing, but I could see how it would be beneficial. The inverted pyramid method also seems very helpful, and an interesting way to strengthen your writing.Ā

I think Johnson did an amazing job in the article,āTo svae the climate look to the Oceans.ā I think she provided great statistics and facts that backed up every claim she made. I also think she did a great job using pathos ethos and logos by the way she has facts but also tried to connect to us with personal stories. I completley agree with her article and i think she has some valid points.
I skimmed the article as Iām not in the environment group, but I agree with you. Her argument was very persuasive; and her use of ethos, pathos, and logos were very convincing.Ā
