Koushi hummed to himself softly as he made a quick breakfast.
Koushi smiled a bit to himself, sliding the pancakes off of the pan that was slowly cooling down. Even though his phone sat right next to his plate, Koushi didnât bother to take a look at it.
Asahi had told him that it was going to rain today, so Koushi had prepared an umbrella for when he was going to go out.
He sat at the table in silence, staring at the empty seat across from him.
ââŚhey, Daichi. You know I love you, rightâŚ?â
Koushiâs question remained unanswered.
He sighed, placing his fork down next to his half finished pancakes. Koushi stood, legs trembling ever so slightly.
Slowly, Koushi forced himself to walk out of the kitchen and up the seemingly endless flight of stairs.
He pushed open the door to the room he and Daichi used to share and strode over to his closet.
Hesitantly, Koushi took out a black turtleneck and loose, black slacks.
They match with his umbrella.
He headed into the bathroom for another hour long shower.
Koushi had been taking daily showers that lasted for at least an hour for the past two years. Of course, whenever he sees the water bill, he winces, but hey, it was good relief.
And so, Koushi sat in the shower, getting drenched with hot water.
Frankly, he wouldnât care if the water went cold.
And then, he would take just a long to get dressed, regardless if he was going out or not.
So by the time Koushi had gotten out of the shower, it was nearing 1 PM.
ââŚthatâs longer than usualâŚâ Koushi muttered to himself, glancing at the clock.
He sighed before slowly climbing down the stairs.
Making sure to grab his phone, though Koushi barely even used it now, he carefully slid into some black leather shoes, which didnât really suit the outfit he was donning.
Nevertheless, Koushi grabbed his umbrella and keys and headed out, making sure to lock the door.
Daichi had always reminded him to do that anyways.
He wasnât sure how to hold the umbrella. By the handle? Like he was in a late 80s movie? Like a swordsman?
In the end, Koushi decided to hold the umbrella like Daichi had taught him to, where the strap was.
It was strange, Koushi thought. But then again, he learnt most things from Daichi.
Koushi blinked, stopping in his tracks. He spotted the middle-aged woman who owned the corner store and smiled lightly.
âGood afternoon, Ms. Akino,â
She chuckled. âWhere are you headed off to?â
Koushi gripped the umbrella.
âAh, wellâŚIâm just headed to see my fiance.â
Ms. Akino smiled, nodding. âI see, I see. We have a special on shoyu ramen today, make sure to drop by. And say hello to your fiance for me,â
Koushi nodded. âYes, Ms. Akino. Have a nice day!â
Koushi didnât really interact with anybody else on the way to visit Daichi.
He reached the very familiar crossing in a matter of ten minutes.
Waiting patiently for the little man to turn green, Koushi looked up at the sky.
It was going to rain soon.
The machine started beeping rapidly, and that was when Koushi crossed the road alone.
He turned a left. The gentle clacking of his shoes was really the only noise he could hear.
Koushi stopped when he reached the black, open gates.
ââŚpardon meâŚâ he muttered ever so quietly before walking through the gates.
He didnât want to disturb the others resting in peace, after all.
He followed the path he knew so well, he could have walked to his exact destination blindfolded.
There was a soft breeze when Koushi stopped right in front of Daichi.
âHey, sweetheartâŚdid you miss meâŚ?â
Koushi smiled weakly, staring down.
December 31 XXXX ~ May 17 XXXX
A valued friend, a cherished son.
It started sprinkling, but Koushi didnât bother opening his umbrella.
âI miss you, DaichiâŚâ
He crouched, gently brushing away some dirt that was on the smooth tombstone.
It was only then did Koushi realise that his vision was blurry.
At least the sky was crying too.
