I was reading the ask you posted where you talk about a fic you wrote in another fandom that got out of hand. Why did I think in that moment that you wrote the dreamnotfound fic heat waves
I DID NOT WRITE HEAT WAVES. my fic is still up. unlike. heat waves
.
bc i’ll never actually properly colour it or anything but anyway. and i have no one else to force to look at this :)
i wanted to continue this post but with light yagami so here we go...
i feel like high school au light yagami is the picture of the perfect student. i mean, he’s the police chief’s son, after all. nothing less than perfection is expected of him.
while light mainly focuses on academics, he’s a member of many honor societies and volunteering clubs and even manages to join the boys’ tennis team. of course, he’s managed to gain a few leadership roles in his respective clubs, and if he hasn’t, he’s still a respected member of said group.
come university application time, everyone at light’s school expects him to attend a prestigious university. after all, he’s the valedictorian of his class and earned a perfect score on his entrance exams.
however, he doesn’t entertain the conversation of his application status whenever people ask him about it, regardless of if its a peer or teacher asking. instead, he provides vague answers about where he expects to be attending and humbly accepts any compliments on his intellect that are thrown his way. after all, he wouldn’t want to seem egoistic.
even light’s closest friends (and even then, close is loosely defined) hardly know anything about his university prospects. some people take light’s hesitation to discuss his plans as a sign of humility, as most of the other students at his secondary school attend local universities or none at all.
it’s only after university decision day that light announces which school he will attend, and to everyone’s surprise, he chose a less selective provincial college that is only a few hours away from his hometown.
light’s decision shocks everyone, even leading some to make comments towards him saying, “oh, you’re going there? i thought you would’ve chosen the national university, you’re so smart!” he always manages to shake off comments like that, saying a curt “thank you” and “i wanted to be close to my family.” still, his replies are not devoid of discomfort and longing, and his throat seems to have a lump of doubt stuck in it.
although light rationalizes his university decision to the public by stating that he wants to stay close to home and commute to school, the real reason is that his family simply can’t afford to send him to university that costs tens of thousands of dollars a year.
it’s not that light didn’t get accepted to the national university. he did. they just didn’t give him enough aid money for his family to afford it. and there was no way that he could rationalize going nearly a hundred thousand dollars into debt for college.
despite light understanding the unfortunate nature of his situation, there was a feeling he experienced in the pit of his stomach that made him nauseous whenever he thought about attending the provincial university. its just because i’m nervous, he would explain to himself. however, it wasn’t his nerves making him feel uneasy; it was the fact that light wanted to attend the national university in the worst way, but knew that at the end of the day, there was no possible way for him to attend.
and so, light had to convince himself that he was content with settling for ‘the best that he could,’ but he had never settled for less than the best before and it felt, for a lack of better words, bad. perhaps more specifically, it felt as though light had to abandon his principles of striving for perfection.
and it felt horrible.
still, there was nothing light could do to fix the situation he was in, and he was forced to reconcile with the truth with a smile on his face as his community watched on.

So do you think you’ll ever share your Instagram publicly? And if we messaged you privately to be mutuals, would that be ok? Have a good morning!
Questionable. I haven’t posted on Instagram in... 5+ months? It’s not a social platform which takes precedence in my life for various reasons (and, now, proudly donning that nauseating capitalistic format...). If that app had any ounce of integrity prior (laughable), it’s certainly gone now. If I find a way to emend mine and Instagram’s turbulent relationship, I’ll surely share it here. In the meantime, I’d prefer to only share that information with my mutual followers.
Yo
Its here again.
Enjoy.
