She was sitting on the lid of the closed toilet with her knee pulled up against her chest. Her head was going a million miles an hour. Thinking about all the pros and cons of what she was about to find out. Right outside the bathroom he sat with his back against the door, tapping his foot and his hands slowing rubbing his anxious face. This was it. 3 minutes. That’s all they had and their world could change forever. 

They had just jumped the bullet and got married almost a year ago. Their one year anniversary was 2 weeks away. Their trip could be delayed now or it could be extended to celebrate. Her dream honeymoon since they never had their official honeymoon. Hawaii with the guy of her dreams. It was heaven. 

He finally stood up when he heard her phone timer go off. 

“Babe” he said to the woman behind the door. Silence. “Miranda” he tried again. He heard her get off the toilet. He stepped back waiting for the door to open. What felt like hours happened all in less than 10 seconds. 

The bathroom door sung open and she jumped into his arms. Tears streaming down her face and sobs filling the room. Finally he puts her on her feet and looks at her watery ocean eyes 

“Baby tell me” he said grabbing her chubby cheeks he loved to kiss 

“We’re having a baby” she said so quietly as if  she didn’t want anyone to know. With that he grabbed her once again and twirled her around and the sounds of the room turned from sobs to laughter 

“I can’t believe it” she said grabbing her phone “I have to call my momma” she stopped 

“You have to call your momma” she said turning to Brendan who still had the biggest smile on his face “I will baby I’m just so excited right now I don’t even have the words to tell anyone” he walked up to her engulfing her with a kiss. It was such a romantic kiss filled with such passion that it swept Miranda from her feet. “Wow” she tries catching her breath “I think that was the best kiss you’ve ever given me” she giggles 

“I’m so happy Miranda, I’m having a baby with the love of my life and we get to give Landon a little sibling! He’s going to be so excited” 

“We get our own little family now” she put her hand on her stomach for the first time just thinking that in a short few months that same flat belly will be huge “our own little nugget” 

A few weeks later the families had all known and freaked out. Bev couldn’t believe her ears when she heard the wonderful news. Brendan’s parents were beyond excited to receive another grand baby. 

It was at a point where Miranda has started showing with the tiniest cutest baby bump and they knew with awards season coming up, they wouldn’t be able to keep their little bundle of joy a secret for much longer 

“Ok this has to be clever and funny because I have a feeling my fans have been waiting for this for a really long time” Miranda tells Brendan with a laugh. 

He laughs and is really relieved to see how excited she is for this new adventure. When he married her and she had said that puppies and step babies were great birth control he somewhat lost hope of having cute blue eyed babies with the woman he loved so much. 

Miranda had been roaming around the house reading up on her comments about her two latest song releases, “It All Comes Out in the Wash” and “Locomotive”. 

She had replied to some of the comments when her husband strolled down the hall carrying a laundry basket. She immediately closed out of the instagram app and opened her camera.

She quietly crept down the hall to the laundry room and hit the record button on her phone. “Woooooooow, my husbands actually doing laundry?” She giggled and Brendan jumped startled then gave her a really look.

“Come on babe, knock it off.” He laughed. Miranda kept the video rolling. “Look he even knows how to separate the whites from darks!”she laughed again. “And he put the detergent in the correct spot!” 

Brendan frowned at his wife. “Ok, you wanna play this game.” He reached into one of his work pants and pulled out handcuffs. Before she could run away Brendan had her cuffed to the door hand of the washing machine. He took the phone from Miranda’s hand and turned it on her. 

“He also knows how to do his job.” Brendan said laughing his ass off. He stopped the recording and posted it to her instagram page and left her there to suffer. 

Brendan got off work and headed home to his apartment in Manhattan. He jumped into the shower then dug out leftover Chinese food from the fridge for dinner. He sat down on the couch and put the tv on to a sports channel. 

He saw that he had a text from a number he hadn’t seen before but realized it was the women who wanted his number earlier that day at work. “Haha, Well you make it hard not to smile.” He sent back with a chuckle. Brendan tended always to be a flirt and he thought the blonde he saw earlier in the day was gorgeous.

Miranda had woken up from her nap and saw the message from Brendan. She smirked to herself. “You busy tonight? Say around 8 pm? I’d love to see that gorgeous smile again.” She sat up in the bed and decided to go tame down the makeup she had on.

Brendan checked the time after receiving her last text. “I am now. I can meet you at The Rum House in Manhattan.” He sent his reply and ate the rest of his leftovers. 

Miranda sent her reply back. “Sounds good. See you then.” She put the tv on as she had 3 hours to kill.

3 Hours Later…

Miranda called for an Uber to the bar Brendan told her he’d meet her at. She arrived at The Rum House just after 8 and went inside looking for the tall, dark and handsome cop when someone tapped on her shoulder from behind.

She jumped at the tapped and turned around to find the cop standing in front of her. “Why hello there….” An awkward pause. They hadn’t exchanged names. 

Brendan laughed. “Brendan.” He extended his hand to shake hers. “Brendan McLoughlin.”

Miranda shook his hand. “Brendan, right. I’m Miranda.” With a laugh, she added, “Which you probably already knew and now I look like an idiot.”

Brendan chuckled. “No, I actually didn’t know who was who between you three. Can I buy you a drink?”

Miranda nodded. “Sure. Anything with tequila in it.” She laughed and they walked over to the bar grabbing the last two seats left. 

A couple hours had passed. They each had a handful of drinks and had many conversations filled with laughter. 

Brendan had realized it was getting late. “It’s getting pretty late. Can I take you home?” He didn’t want her to go alone in the middle of the city past midnight.

Miranda checked her phone and nodded. “Oh shoot. Yeah, My flights at 8 am tomorrow. I should go to bed.” She giggled. She gathered her things and stood up from her chair with a little wobble.

Brendan put his arm around her to help her out to his cab. He told them her hotel address when they were settled and buckled.

“You sure are a real gentleman.” She smiled at Brendan as her head landed on his shoulder. “You’re thoughtful, funny, and caring. You’re my type of guy.” She said softly and found her lips locking against his. 

Brendan didn’t pull away as he had an attraction to the woman sitting beside him. He held her face in his hand and smiled. “Well, you’re just about the same. Thoughtful, funny, caring and you are absolutely beautiful.” 

Miranda smiled and thanked him as they pulled up to her hotel. “Walk me in?” She asked him. She didn’t want to leave his side. 

Brendan nodded and had asked the cab to wait for a few minutes. He walked Miranda up to her room. As he said his goodbyes Miranda stopped him.

“No, don’t go.” She grabbed his arm. “Stay and take care of me.” She winked and he laughed.

“No no, I’m not taking advantage of you.” Brendan replied. He had lesser drinks than she had and he knew taking advantage of a drunk woman could end badly.

Miranda pouted. “You need to sleep, You said your flight was at 8 am. It’s almost 2 am. Let’s get you into bed.” Brendan took the key from her hand and unlocked the door. 

He walked her in and helped her over and into the bed. “I set an alarm on your phone and I’ll have the people downstairs send up something to help with your hangover in the morning. I had a great time tonight and cannot wait to see you again someday.” He smiled at her.

There was no reply from her. She was already asleep halfway through his comment. He smiled at the sleeping blonde and set the key on the bedside table. He turned off the lights and walked out of her room.

He made sure to tell the workers to send up some pain relievers and a pitcher of water.

On the morning of November 2nd, Miranda awoke to the sound of her alarm at 5 am which was 4 am her time since she was in New York City. With a groan, she reached over to the nightstand and hit the alarm off. She sighed as getting up early was never her cup of tea.

She pulled herself up out of bed and made her way into the bathroom. She turned the shower on to medium heat and brushed her teeth as the water warmed up. She got herself cleaned up before there was a knock on her hotel room door.

After putting her robe on she opened the door to find her makeup and hair team ready to get her all glammed up for her performance with the Pistol Annies.

Finishing within an hour, Miranda was dressed and ready to head on down to the Good Morning America show. She met up with Angaleena and Ashley and did some warming up before their time to perform came.

Brendan had been working that morning. He arrived at GMA just before they started filming. He was put just near the backstage doors where the hosts and the Annies would be walking through. 

The Annies made their way onto the stage when the time had come and sung the first single off their new album “Got My Name Changed Back”. While singing her lines, Miranda met eyes with Brendan for a brief moment and was totally blown away. She made sure not to stare too long and make things awkward.

After their performance, the three headed backstage again and Miranda smiled to Brendan as she passed him.

Once in a room, she turned to Ashley and Ang. “Did y’all see that cop? Just outside the doors?” Ashley nodded. “I’d die if my husband had those looks.” Miranda bit the inside of her lip softly. “I need to go ask Tom something.” She was referring to her manager.

She ventured out to find her manager. She found him in a gathering room. “Hey Tom, Can you do me a favor?” Tom glared at her in a sarcastic way. “Who am I talking to now?” Miranda laughed softly. “Could you possibly get me that cop outside the doors number? He had that sparkle in his eye.” Tom thought for a moment before he ventured out to get Brendan’s number for Miranda.

She sat in one of the chairs patiently when he returned, a sticky note in hand. She stood up and grabbed the note. “Thank you…again. You’re the best!” She left to collect her things and head back to her hotel to rest some more.
