PEOPLE | Love Is In the Air

When asked by some friends whom I hold dear to photograph as momentous an occasion as their engagement photos, the pressure was on for me to capture it just right.  What I did not expect was that their location of choice would be the Old LA Zoo.  I mean, how romantic could it be this old, abandoned zoo?  Unexpected... yes, but who best to decide on the setting that best fits them than the couple themselves -- and so, I'll be taking it from here.  

With this shoot, I was reminded of the beauty that exists in everything.  The end result, photos that are whimsically beautiful.

Weekenders | San Francisco, CA | WE'RE IN THE CITY

There's countless things about this city that keep us coming back time and time again.  So it's no surprise that we have friends who call this place home, and they never fall short of making us feel anything but right at home with them.

Being that we love oysters, a trip to Hog's Island was a must, though we hadn't booked in advance.  We had no choice but to opt for the oyster bar experience, and this did not disappoint.  Minus the experience of shucking my own oysters, I certainly won't oppose to having them shucked for me.  Always one to appreciate the freshness of an oyster, I actually discovered a new love for barbecue oysters here.

Taking a page out of rock & roll icon Jennifer Herrema's book, the foxtail has become a staple item in my wardrobe.  

It adds a hint of edge but do take care not to overdo it as it may become borderline tacky.

Look 52 | Noise + Silence

Shooting with Mr. retoyman feels effortless -- because I can literally just stand in front of a wall and he'll shoot me just as I'd envisioned it.  Vacant, lifeless spaces when done right, can evoke such hidden emotions. An outfit that might appear simple blends into the simultaneously quaint, yet noisy surroundings.     I love this whole series.

Look 50 | Bringing baggy pants back!

Growing up my daily uniform consisted of baggy pants, oversized t-shirts and Nike Cortez aka the "cholo" shoes. :) I guess it's all part of growing up in San Gabriel Valley. You would think my style has evolved since then. But from the looks of it, it hasn't changed at all.  Only now, I don't have to watch my back.
