"I have to give it to Father, he really outdid himself with creating you."

"Come on, have a little fun, Angel."

"Even demons should take good care of themselves."

"I made dinner." "But we don't eat."

"Show me your wings. They must hurt like that, so please let me help you."

"Tell me about you. Before all of this happened. I want to know everything about you."

"Oh my feathery friend, finally we meet again."

"I haven't been an angel for a while now, but this seems like the typical courting rituals of an angel. Do you want to tell me something?"

"You're not bad, just because someone else decided that you should be. We do have free will."

"Can we fly? Together, just this once?"

Well, they’re not rlly withering away cuz they’re hooked up to basically like really complex advanced life support and weird mechanical medical systems that keep their bodies kind of alright. I mean they’ve definitely got bedsores and stuff and would probably struggle walking and moving at first if they ever left due to muscular atrophy, but they’re being fed and generally cared for and not decomposing. Zooble, Pomni, and Gangle are in slightly worse conditions, since they weren’t hooked up properly, but they are still kind of hooked up and also not decomposing.

Don’t worry it does make sense! And it has been answered before but that was a while ago and I retconned some things so I appreciate the opportunity to elaborate!>:3

So, basically, the hospital simulation was supposed to be able to let patients & staff move in and out of it. However, due to Scratch’s attempts at basically making it an immortality machine, the simulation glitched and it’s basically impossible to leave once you enter. Obviously the SAFE thing to do once this fact was discovered would’ve been to shut the sim down, but the investors who had paid for the sim’s development didn’t want to “waste” all the money they had poured into it, and instead started advertising it as sort of a “troubled teen/child” solution and basically a place to put away ppl who “couldn’t contribute to society themselves”. (Same icky investors who insisted on inserting Dr. Abel.)

Jax, Ragatha, and Ribbit were all put into the sim on this logic. Their parents thought they were too much work to take care of themselves and wanted to maintain their control over them while simultaneously not actually being there for them at all, and paid for them to live the rest of their lives out in the sim. Theoretically the sim would’ve provided a way to “call”/send letters or emails to ppl outside of it, but this system glitched out and even when it was still working, Jax, Ragatha and Ribbit’s parents didn’t do this. (I’m not rlly sure about Kaufmo tbh.)

Eventually, the entire irl hospital that held the sim hospital system ended up becoming abandoned due to various lawsuits and other factors. Zooble, Pomni, and Gangle all found the system while exploring the abandoned building and decided to try it out, and ended up getting stuck.

The ppl who were entered into the sim properly (like Scratch, Ribbit, Jax, Ragatha) are probably hooked up in weird tube-bed systems that look more like the kind of thing ppl were theorizing the canon cast was in way back in the early days of the fandom, lol. The others are probably lying in these too, but not necessarily properly hooked up to every system in them.
