Imagine being locked in complete sensory deprivation for an undisclosed amount of time and when you're finally released from your isolation you immediately learn almost everyone you ever formed a close personal connection to died while you were gone and you're now all alone with your younger brother Emotional Manipulation Jones

Well something very similar happened to a close personal friend of mine, Nurse Caine from @1-wonder-1's St. Lanier’s Hospital AU, and I've been thinking about it All Day.

I keep forgetting to ask my pressing lore questions I've had this one for a bit; Was St. Lanier’s Caine ever cut off/boxed like canon Caine was before he ate the Blue AI? Or have a similar sort of punishment/containment by isolation at any point?

(I thought I would be rlly funny and just answer with that but I physically can’t resist elaborating. It’s also gonna be important later, if my plans stay the same.

So, Nurse Caine wasn’t locked away by his creators, but by Abel. Shortly after Scratch’s abstraction, Abel took a physical form, and since there were now no patients, and no child patients to comfort at that, he saw Caine working as a waste of time, money, energy, and other resources, and “put him away” until he was needed. Abel himself was the only one running the hospital for a while. Any patients that came in while Caine was locked away abstracted pretty quickly. Obviously Caine did not have very much fun with this.

Eventually, though, even Abel was able to realize that he couldn’t really do this properly without Caine, and let him out to be the main face of the hospital again, before Ragatha entered.)
