What would the Revised Reality crew think of their SLH au counterparts, please? (I really love the crossover stuff you guys do with Butterfly Effect, and I know this au is totally separate, but I was just curious.)

I love this ask sm because @1-wonder-1 and I have already been talking about the SLH and RR guys and this is a good way to sort my thoughts for future yaps hehe... answer under the cut because this is gonna be LONG.
RR Ragatha would be incredibly awkward around SLH Ragatha... given that theyre probably the least different to one another, it makes interacting quite difficult due to RR Ragatha's self-loathing, alongside the general awkwardness of interacting with another version of yourself. She in no way dislikes her but I think there's no way for those two to bond without outside interference, they'd just avoid each other...
RR Pomni would be pretty put-off by SLH Pomni... I think she'd snap at her easily and would constantly be insulting her, messing with her, and giving her death glares, despite SLH Pomni not doing anything to her to start this. She wouldn't quite hate her (i think if anything she hates what she represents) but she would feel incredibly strongly about her and her negative feelings would be almost impossible to change... I dont think SLH Pomni would like RR Pom at all either LMFAO but thats ofc more Mell's jurisdiction than mine
RR Lilly would be rlly scared of SLH Jax i think đđ Very jumpy around him and just generally shielding herself as much as possible or making herself as small as she can to try and not draw his attention (even though uh... ur his universal counterpart Lilly u kinda stand out). I think Jax would kinda make her feel a lot worse about herself and really scared that she's gonna turn out like him no matter how much she doesnt want to... She's like immediatly convinced that all of the SLH cast are gonna hate her because shes associated with Jax which would probably cause her to avoid them all as much as possible and clam up around them pretty bad. I think like RR Pom with SLH Pom she doesnt necessarily hate him but hates what he represents. I think she also feels bad for him, in a way. She prolly assumes that things went way worse for him than they did for her because of the way he ended up... but this wouldnt really prompt much of an attempt at forming a relationship or trying to comfort him because shes still really scared of him even if shes sympathetic and is pretty aware that he wouldn't take that well (she knows she probably wouldnt take it well, either...)
RR Zooble would honestly probably be jealous of how effortly SLH Zooble seems to help people, especially because they've been doing their job for less time than theyve been trying to help out their castmates. Hell, they didn't even have to change themselves to help... they just did it as they were, which messes with RR Zooble's head a lot but they eventually chalk that up to different circumstances requiring different approaches. I think they idolise SLH Zooble a bit mostly because of the lack of info they have and their own insecurities. I dont think they even realise SLH Zooble struggles too. I think they'd inspire RR Zooble to work harder and harder and try and improve themself and their attempts to help more and more until they crash and burn from the amount of stress they're putting themself under as well as just general lack of self care... TLDR they really like SLH Zooble which might not be a good thing
RR Gangle would like SLH Gangle a lot!!! I think she'd be very very happy to have someone she can feel safe to be herself around, although this would only be in instances where the two of them are alone which I imagine wouldnt be frequent enough for them to interact that often...
RR Caine would feel generally kinda weird about SLH Caine for reasons I wont disclose just yet but I think overall he'd find him cool even if he wouldn't be super vocal about that fact, moreso showing it through his actions than anything. If anyone called him out he'd just run away lmao-
RR Kinger would be rlly interested in SLH Kinger and would want to learn as much as possible about him, which would be difficult since they cant really interact that much when its not dark which RR Kinger wouldnt be aware of. Despite that though I think RR Kinger rlly likes SLH Kinger! They're on the same wavelength... (which uh they would not be if SLH Kinger was lucid and knew of The Horrors but he isnt and doesnt so! Yay???????)

I do actually think about ragathaâs relationship to gangle a lot because truly it seems that little miss doormat will consistently raise her voice for exactly one person and that person is gangle. Ragatha who people pleases like her life depends on it, fighting jax time and time again for gangles sake. Ragatha who would rather eat coals than address a conflict head on actually yelling in gangles defensive. Ragatha who is terrified of jax too standing her ground only for gangle.
And gangle who takes comfort in her, who listens carefully to her softball instructions despite not knowing sports well, despite maybe not even wanting to try but doing it for her friends sake. Gangle who openly out loud says âi love herâ which as far as i can tell is the only time a human in the show says that.
i wonder how much of themselves they see in each other. i wonder if thatâs a good thing or a bad thing. both probably. i think they were probably rather close for a time maybe right up until the pilot they seem to be drifting apart in real time after pomnis arrival.

kids tend not to make errors such as omitting verbs (âi hungryâ)
kids also tend not to make errors in the i/me, she/her department (âme am hungryâ)
simplification of difficult sounds â consonant clusters especially, so things like st, sp, ps, etc., as well as f, v, th-sounds, ch-sounds, etc.
âbabblingâ-type utterances (âapwenâ for âairplane,â using one babbly word for multiple objects, things like that)Â generally occur in children under the age of three and a half

do not confuse child speech with stereotypical learner english mistakes, thatâs not only incorrect but also gross on the stereotypical learner english front (âme love you long time,â anybody?)

Totally. It can be helpful to remind yourself that young children tend to speak as though the English language actually made sense. Our brains are pattern-recognising machines: children are really, really good at puzzling out the implicit rules of the English language, but they donât necessarily know all the silly exceptions and bizarre edge cases that break those rules yet - those can only be learned through experience and rote memorisation.
Basically, when children who speak English as a first language make mistakes, it typically reflects a tendency to treat English as more grammatically, syntactically, and/or orthographically consistent than it really is. In some cases, this can be compounded by the fact that some kids will get offended at how little sense âproperâ English makes, and insist upon using the more consistent forms even though they know very well that theyâre technically âwrongâ.
As someone who spends a good majority of her time working with kids, it irks me to no end when I see children written as if theyâre babies.
Past the age of about five or six years old, children can have deep, intellectual conversations about the most bizarre of things. I HAD A CONVERSATION LAST WEEK WITH FOUR THIRD GRADERS ABOUT THE GAS PRICES AND TAXES IN HAWAII.
Were they entirely correct in the facts they were giving? No, because it was all from what they had heard from parents or on the news. But that doesnât take away from the fact that I was having a genuine conversation with four eight and nine year olds about taxes.
Just about the only speech problems most kids have, unless they have a speech impediment, is not being able to pronounce certain consonants (replacing âthâ with âfw,â for example, and some letters are harder to form with your mouth than others) and doing exactly what the person above said: using the English language the way they know how, which isnât always the way English works.
Kids arenât stupid. Stop writing them like they are.
