see the thing with shopping is i don’t really browse, but rather, i search

i walk in, glancing quickly at the shelves, maybe even going not-so-subtly directly to a section, before actually browsing for a little bit and then leaving

and i have to wonder, do the employees know? do they see my search attempts? do they wonder what the heck im searching for every time?

and let it be known, that if i ever did find the thing™️, i would get really excited before again, not so subtly, taking a picture and/or buying said thing immediately, to then never return to that store or come back every day from that point onwards

To be quite honest with you all I do think that aro/ace-spectrum fans in fandoms where people are desperately inventing crossover ships and humanizing non-human characters in order to have a conventionally attractive guy to ship the main character with, instead of possibly having to enjoy a story with no romance in it, have the right to refer to everyone else as cowards.

I need to analyze how my aroace-ness affects my understanding of romance, how I interpret media, and why I like certain nuanced character dynamics and relationships

I’ve said this before in the tags of rbs and other posts, but it’s something that’s really interesting to me

I don’t really feel like I can experience shipping culture in the same way a lot of others can, and even irl romance culture in general, and that can feel isolating sometimes, but I also really value and appreciate the way I have a different outlook on the importance of relationships, and how connections don’t have to be romantic to be just as valuable and impactful (and while many allo people may try to claim they can too, i feel like its still a struggle for many of them to really understand)

Then again, I also lack the understanding of what makes a romantic relationship special for so many people, outside of “the feelings involved are different.” Why they may place it on a pedestal or how it’s “more” than friendship, are concepts hard to not be critical towards—however much I wish I could be more open minded about it.

So basically, me being aroace effects how I view the world and media, and thats something i’d like to learn more about :)
