george's post-dnf radio. i've never heard him so furious before.
i don't even know what to say at this point.
Itās getting to a pointā¦.
The commentators and Merc are trying to gaslight me by saying it him and his driving style and I cannot take it anymore. The data is publicly available. We can see heās doing the same as Kimi and still losing speed.
#actually support your drivers challenge FAILED
debated on whether to post this but fuck it let's just have some fun. time to manifest!
Hey so my brain came up with a fanfic idea that I didnāt realize I needed but now I want so badly
Premise: Arvid + the grid teaching him how to drive before his driverās test.
The basic idea is everyone on the grid learns that he doesnāt have his normal driverās license yet and one by one they each try to teach him. Maybe it starts with Liam taking him out on the road but inevitably it goes wrong. Then it goes one by one down the grid but nothing works (hijinks ensue); Alonso, Nico, or Lewis try because they think with their older experience they could be good teachers but more mess occurs.
You get montages of Lando and Oscar trying, Max making an attempt, Alex is also very patient but nothing sticks and the test day is getting closer.
Arvid is ready to give up just as the driversā gc is blowing up everyday trying to figure out how they can manipulate the drivers test to get him to pass. Maybe itās during media day and in between media duties, Arvid just plops down a chair on the deck of a hospitality unit and George is at the table across checking his emails on his phone.
Arvidās head plops down on the table when suddenly George, without looking up from his phone, just gives him a driving suggestion (I canāt be specific rn but maybe something about how he should work the gas and brakes in a similar way to how he drives the f1 car or something along those lines). Arvidās head snaps up to turn towards George as he gets startled and George repeats himself.
Arvid takes a minute to think it over before it starts making sense in head and he realizes he could do that. Then he asks George if he could be the one to to teach him how to drive for his upcoming test.
George is a great teacher and very patient, they have several lessons (all secret in a way that the rest of the drivers just either donāt know about it because Arvid got annoyed or they were just oblivious as they focused on the gc plans)
Itāll be a month later or something and maybe during a press conference when a journalist asks Arvid about the drivers license thing, heāll casually say that he already got it a few weeks ago.
*shocked pikachu face* for the grid.
Afterwards the grid all swarm Arvid or blow up the gc asking when that happened or how he scammed it and heāll reveal that he had George teaching him for several weeks
*more shocked pikachu faces*
And weāll flashback to the driving lessons, the encouragement, the steady presence and later (besides his own family) George will be the first person he tells about passing.
I didnāt realize how much I need a fluffy and cute grid family fic with a side of Arvid & George mentorship

I can't stop laughing. I'm so happy. All I can say is "I'm happy," and I want to stay happy forever. Congratulations, George Russell! Tposeš
WE'RE SO BACKš„š„š„š„š„š„š„
Hello I am back from a mini hiatus š
Now I know it may seem like it was due to F1 (especially since my last post was so dramatic. I promise you my mental health is fine, I was just venting about how it can be demoralizing to remember that the world can suck) but I was actually busy due to life stuff.
My friend is getting married this weekend (š„³) but that also meant a lot of prep irl, but anyways the point of this post is to say
1. Iām fine
2. I am still keeping up with F1 and of course I have thought and opinions, especially with the latest contract rumours (I donāt know if Iāll share them)
3. I will try to keep up with the Austrian GP
4. Iām never giving up on our guy George (through good and bad)
I donāt want to talk about feelings. I want to talk about politics. I want to talk about chess. I know the reasonable thing is to say this is all probably coincidence. Bad optics, bad timing, bad social media planning, the usual incompetence wrapped in a three-pointed star. I know Mercedes does not build cathedrals for every podium and I know a P2 is not supposed to trigger a national holiday. I know! But at some point you have to stop looking at each thing separately, because that is how you miss the shape. Chess is not one move. Politics is not one statement. You look at what keeps happening, where the warmth goes, who keeps getting the soft landing and who keeps getting left there. At some point, you have to look at the board and ask why the man who delivered the result keeps being left standing in the cold while the institution around him pretends temperature is not part of the game.Ā
Because this does not look, to me, like simple neglect anymore. Neglect is lazy. Neglect is accidental. Neglect is forgetting to post the right photo or misreading the emotional weight of a weekend. This feels cleaner than that and that is what makes it worse. It feels like the beginning of a soft eviction. The corporate kind, the kind that happens quietly enough for everyone involved to deny it later. You do not tell the man to leave. You make staying feel worse every week. You make the room colder. You make the applause thinner. You make every achievement feel like something the team has to acknowledge rather than something they are actually proud of.
And that is the part I keep coming back to. If the objective is to move George out, the smartest play is not open hostility. Open hostility gives him a clean enemy and George with a clean enemy is dangerous because suddenly everyone can see the story. The smarter play is to make him feel less central to his own seat. You let him still be there, obviously. You let him still be valued in the vague press conference way. You let everyone say the right things. But the actual feeling of the team starts moving elsewhere. The affection moves elsewhere. The future moves elsewhere. The narrative moves elsewhere. He is still in the room, but somehow the room has already started being decorated for someone else.Ā
And then you put the last few races beside each other and it stops looking like bad optics and starts looking like a board. George gets a podium on his 100th race with Mercedes and somehow the whole thing feels like he showed up to his own party and found out no one had bothered to turn the lights on. I am not asking for fireworks. I am not asking for Toto to fall to his knees in parc fermĆ© and kiss the front wing. I am asking for the bare minimum emotional competence of a team pretending this man still matters to them. Someone should have been there. Someone should have looked happy. Someone should have made that podium feel like it belonged to him too, instead of another result quietly dropped into the wrong narrative. A team acting like the driver who put the car on the podium was not an inconvenient footnote to the weekendās preferred storyline. Instead the moment felt bizarrely hollow, like George had delivered a result into a room already emotionally reserved for somebody else.Ā
And then there is the content and this is where I need people to stop acting like Mercedes is some fan account posting from bed at 2 a.m. I work for a company that is big locally, but still tiny if you zoom out even a little and even there the marketing is insanely good, very intentional, very aware of what an image says and what a caption does. So please be serious for one second and imagine the scale we are talking about here. Mercedes is a billionaire Formula 1 team attached to one of the biggest car brands in the world. They have PR people, media people, brand people, sponsors, lawyers, approval chains, a whole machine built around image. They are not accidentally making George look like an afterthought because some intern forgot to check the podium photos folder. They know what they are doing when they choose who gets paragraphs, who gets pictures, who gets warmth, who gets framed as the future and who gets treated like an awkward guest at his own result.Ā
One weird post can be careless. A pattern is language and Mercedes knows language. They know how to make a teenager look like destiny. They know how to polish the āboy geniusā narrative until everyone starts speaking in prophecy, until the kid becomes less a driver and more a marketing object with a halo. Formula 1 loves that. It loves a chosen one. It loves youth when youth can be sold as inevitability. So no, I do not think it is accidental when George delivers and the story still moves away from him. I think a team this rich, this trained, this obsessed with image, knows exactly where it is pointing the camera.Ā
And Toto Wolff, bitch please. Toto is not some sentimental headmaster accidentally trapped in a billionaireās body. He is a businessman before he is anyoneās team father. He is a shark with excellent tailoring and a very clean vocabulary for ruthlessness. If Mercedes can sell the next era as the rise of the boy genius, he will sell it. If he can turn Kimi into the emotional centre of the project, he will. If the team can pivot from the messiness of the last few years into a bright, obedient, future-facing myth, they would be insane not to try. And then you add the other rumour sitting in the corner of the room, because of course there is another rumour, because this sport is a little palace full of men leaking things through the walls. If Toto really wants Max, and if Max really has some sort of performance clause that could make the door open, then Toto needs a seat. He needs a vacancy. He needs someone to move. And be serious, he is not going to put Kimi on the bench right when the Kimi narrative is this clean, this shiny, this easy to sell. The teenager, the prodigy, the future, the boy they can package as destiny before he has even had time to become complicated. Why would Toto sacrifice that story when George is right there, older, established, inconvenient, too good to discard cleanly but apparently not sacred enough to protect? If the cleanest version of the teamās future is Max as the monster signing and Kimi as the boy genius, then George becomes the problem not because he failed, but because he is occupying the square they need empty. And Toto is many things, but stupid is not one of them.Ā
So the political question becomes simple: how do you get rid of a man who has not given you a clean sporting excuse to get rid of him? You do not attack the result. You attack the conditions around the result. You make staying feel smaller. You make loyalty feel unrewarded. You let him become lonely in public. You let him walk into rooms without the visible armour of the team. You let moments that should confirm his place instead reveal its fragility. Monaco already had that taste, that strange image of him going to the stewards as if he were representing himself inside a structure that should have been standing around him. That was not explosive. It was worse. It was humiliating in the quiet way institutions humiliate people when they want plausible deniability. Nobody has to abandon you loudly if they can simply fail to appear.Ā
That is why the latest pieces feel so ugly together. The cold podium mood. The strange absence of visible celebration. The recap choices. The emotional overinvestment elsewhere. The technical mistake landing on his side. None of this needs to be an elaborate conspiracy for it to function politically. That is what people misunderstand. Politics is not always a secret room full of villains saying the evil plan out loud. Sometimes politics is a collection of incentives all leaning in the same direction. Sometimes it is a team realising that the cleanest version of its future does not have much use for the loyal son who expected inheritance. Sometimes it is less āwe hate himā and more āwe need him to understand he is no longer the centre of what we are trying to sell.āĀ
And that, to me, is much colder. Because George has played the game exactly the way a man like George was taught to play it. Polished. Correct. Loyal. Restrained. He has protected the team even when the team did not protect him with the same force. He has done the PR, smiled through the awkwardness, absorbed the criticism, kept his rage elegant enough for people to mistake it for weakness. People call him try-hard because they cannot recognise survival when it comes in a pressed shirt. But that is what he has been doing. Keep your head down. Donāt embarrass the boss. Donāt become difficult. Wait your turn. Be grateful. Be useful. Make yourself impossible to discard through excellence alone. But that only works if the people above you are playing fair. If they are not, then dignity becomes a trap. Loyalty becomes a leash. Professionalism becomes the thing they use to make your pain look manageable.Ā
That is the chess of it. You do not have to take the king while he is still protected. You take the squares around him. You remove the places where he can stand. You make every move feel worse than the last. You let him remain technically alive on the board while making the board itself hostile to him. And then, if he finally moves himself out, he gets taken and everyone gets to act like it was his decision. No blood on the hands. No open betrayal. Just a mature separation, a strategic choice, a driver seeking new opportunities, a team looking toward the future. Beautiful language for a very ugly thing.Ā
Maybe I am wrong. Maybe all of this is just a sequence of stupid coincidences arranged by the gods to look like workplace warfare. Maybe Mercedes loves George deeply and simply has the emotional intelligence of a locked filing cabinet. Maybe the car issues, the media choices, the lonely institutional moments, the sudden gravitational pull toward the teenage saviour narrative, all of it, all of it, is nothing. But if this is nothing, it is doing a spectacular impression of a machine trying to make a man leave without ever having to push him in public.Ā
And I think that is what makes me angriest. Not the preference itself. Formula 1 is brutal. Teams choose futures. Men get replaced. Narratives are rewritten before the old ink dries. Fine. That is the sport. The cruelty is in making a loyal driver feel like a guest in the house he helped keep standing. The cruelty is in letting him deliver and still making the result feel like it belongs to someone elseās story. The cruelty is in watching him behave with all that careful, painful dignity while the room around him gets colder and colder and then pretending not to understand why people noticed the frost.Ā
So yes, letās talk politics. Letās talk chess. Letās talk about what it means when a team does not need to say āleaveā because it can make staying feel like swallowing glass. Letās talk about how George Russell, the good son, the polished one, the one who waited and waited and waited, might now be standing in the middle of a board designed to make his next move look voluntary.Ā
And if that is the game, then fuck the game. I hope he sees every piece. I hope he stops mistaking coldness for professionalism. I hope he becomes impossible to politely rearrange. I hope he takes every lonely podium, every thin little caption, every silence dressed as strategy, every attempt to make him smaller inside his own career and turns it into something they cannot crop, soften or hand to someone else. If they are trying to make him leave, I hope he makes them regret needing him gone.Ā
And if he does leave, if he goes somewhere else, then fine. I will buy the colours. I will wear the merch. I will stand there with him even if it is ugly, even if it is humiliating, even if it is, God help me, orange.
I hate what today has become. Itās his 100th race for the team and it was amazing to see George get in touch with his instincts and get his groove back. He dominated the weekend and got pole!
He led most of the race!
There were pace issues and an issue with the strategy but he still fought and defended hard and got that p2.
I wanted to celebrate that but by the end of the day I just feel bittersweet. The team is openly not supporting him beyond a pathetic bare minimum. Alongside the everything else this season, now they donāt show up for his podium (a podium at his 100th race for them, and a p2 in general) and they barely acknowledge him after in their statements and posts.
I am so glad I got into this sport but I can recognize that my investment feels like itās diving too deep. I claim my driver, I have my ops, and I take every success and failure personally and it blurs the line to feeling like none of it is real (more accurately this sport feels like fiction).
And I think what bothers me the most is that what we are seeing from this team, their current actions, are cartoonishly villainous; which doesnāt help the that fictional feeling. Theyāre being so obvious, that it feels like a tv script or a movie about an underdog fighting to be recognized. But thatās so shitty because this isnāt a movieā¦these are real people, real teams/companies, real decisions & motives, and this is a real sport.
And I think itās hitting me so hard because as a human being I want to see the best in people and this level of disrespect feels fictional; so to know it is happening real life is not really comprehending in my brain. My brain is having to acknowledge shitty people being shitty, especially in todayās world climate, and itās just depressing.
I can in fact tell reality from fiction and I also know that there can be all sorts of people in the world, whether selfish or mean or even anything at all. But you also canāt argue that F1 in recent years hasnāt tried so hard to blur that line by focusing more on entertainment value and developing parasocial attachments to the teams and drivers.
ā¦anyway, all this nonsense venting to say that Iām glad for the week break because while I can be sad for George and upset with Mercedes, I need to breathe for a minute

I woke up early for this race.
To clarify I am happy.
I will be celebrating the p2 today, but trust I will be on my driverās neck about that ass race pace tomorrow. (Also thank fuck for Kimiās dnf)
Also he needs to call Marcus out for letting Ferrari of all teams dictate their first pit stopā¦.but I digress as that will be tomorrow

atp Iāll keep tagging the official tumblr, @georgerussell63-blog. bc even if he doesnāt use it, I feel better letting my rants go somewhere
George p1 but everyone is being nonchalant so it's not jinxed
My motto is now āRemember Canadaā until the chequered flag. Iām not pre-celebrating anymore because I remember that disaster and how truly awful I felt that day
This is an open letter to George Russell; if youāre not George Russell move along⦠or stay idc
I have full faith and belief in your ability to to turn this season around (whether itās getting back into good position or winning the WDC like I know you can) but now is the time to Lock. The. Fuck. In. No more niceties. No more accepting the negligence with grace.
You came into F1 at Williams in 2019! You drove that (letās be real) shitbox car to its absolute maximum potential and consistently out qualified your teammate. You even brought that Williams to a P2! Youāve shown time and time again that you have one of the greater skills needed for F1, which is adaptability, not just consistency (which is also important).
You make work with what you have and bring out a better performance than that machinery ever had the right to have; you did it in Sakhir 2020 in an unfamiliar car, you also did it again for Mercedes in their less dominant years once you moved up. Yet thatās being pushed under the rug due to team errors and your own need to be the model Mercedes driver. This is about your career and legacy, not Mercedesā team history.
You need to let go of Mercedes and start driving for yourself (Obviously under the constraints of current team management and needing to share data on both sides of the garage yada yada yada, but still with putting more of a priority on yourselfā¦anyways moving on)
You have my full permission to go wrath of god on the Mercedes garage and your engineers. Hell, starting yelling at people and become a raging asshole to work with. Youāre letting that team walk all over you and you need to advocate for yourself harder. Should you have had to at all? NO, but here we are anyway.
At this point it feels like there are 12 teams on this grid; the actual 11, and now you as a special 12th team on your own. (You literally went on your own to the stewards to dispute your penalty when the team didnāt even go. Hell, Alpine is putting in the official challenge when Merc isnāt)
Obviously you know more about whatās happening behind the scenes and there are obviously other factors but Iām going to give you some suggestions to start working with:
1. Gather a team outside of Mercedes payroll. Whether itās to handle, manage and interpret your data, PR, or anything else; get a group of people that are only meant to be there for you alone.
2. Think about change in engineers. I know you and Marcus have been together for a long time (and itās not always Marcusā fault) but sometimes driver/RE pairs can outgrow each other and their needs.
Driving this year can probably show you that you need different type of feedback while in the car, and someone who is actually capable of anticipating and providing that feedback as well. (Once again look outside of Mercedes if you can)
3. We need to change the mentality this year and Iām not talking about your championship mentality. Itās clear something has changed with the car since China and itās not going to get fixed by this team anytime soon.
You need to start approaching this car like itās the FW42-43 all over again and start driving like you did back in 2019-2021. Hell, even 2022. Like I said before, you have the gift of adaptability and somehow push these shit cars past a limit they should not be capable of (which is probably the reason Merc seems reluctant to fix anything, since they think you can just drive around it)
Even though everyone is praising Mercedes for āmasteringā these regulations and the engine (which based on what weāve seen with all the customer teams and your car specifically, I find this very questionable at best), itās clear they donāt really have it figured out and who knows how far this will take them during the rest of the season.
While theyāre threading the fine line, you need to start preparing ahead of time. Youāve done this before, and while you shouldnāt have to go back to that time again, you may be required to⦠At least you have the experience to actually achieve something with it.
4. In the harshest way possibleā¦Drop the Mr. Mercedes dream.
This is not really applicable to just you (e.g., Charles being Mr. Ferrari, Lando being Mr. McLaren, etc.) but the aim to become synonymous with the team identity and loyal to that team forever, even to your personal detriment, is something to reevaluate when considering why you wanted to be in F1 in the first place.
Sure the team is important, Iām not denying that, but did you really put all that time, money, and effort just to be seen as the guy who drove/drives for Mercedes? Not to be a legendary name in Motorsport? At the end of your career do you want to be seen as the teamās token or as the worldās greatest driver?
This point is just something to think about, and does not have to be done right away or even at all, because Iām not saying you need to abandon the Mercedes brand completely, but you do need something defining outside of it for sure.
Iāll probably add to this more once I calm down from this weekend.
And yes, yes, itās a long season, and itās only round 6, and things could change later blah blah blahā¦. but this is a recurring pattern and Iām thinking outside the season. Iām thinking ahead.
Also yes Iām tagging his old ass official tumblr, @georgerussell63-blog, even though heās probably hasnāt used it in literal years; itās that serious babes because at the end of the day my faith and loyalty was never to Mercedes but to George himself.
Heās the driver whose skill, talent, and hardwork I connected to. I want to see the potential that I see in him come into fruition.
I havent finished watching it but if you still want someone to talk about ayla y los mirrors?
Does the english dub count?
Hello š Yes, absolutely the ENG dub counts!!
To be totally honest, I havenāt finished the show either due to life stuff but I was always planning on going back. I actually was going to do rewatch of all the other shows too for another ask I didnāt get around to š
so they have literally not communiated anything to him throughout this lap other than stay out, he was told to stay out and not notified that the SC will pass through the pitlane, he was not told of the pitstop AND THEY FORGOT THE PENALTY WTH IS THIS. like the tyres are there??? why is dudley telling him to stay out??? WHEN THE SAFETY CAR IS PASSING THROUGH THE PITLANE AS WELL HOLY SHIT......... HOLY SHIT. ARE THEY ASLEEP IN HIS GARAGE?! this is genuinely absurd YOU ARE FIGHTING FOR A WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP.

Hey quick questionā¦.
Does Mercedes care about the WCC at all??????
(Clearly not because they essentially had two DNFs for only one car so far and one was completely avoidableā¦.)
I mean the Mercedes power unit, powerful as it is has it's issues. Mclaren are/have been experiencing the worst of it, it would've eventually got to George, will probably catch Kimi too at some point. The Merc 'team' is a top team, all top teams have issues, George's garage was fine too this race weekend and got him his that sprint win. It all comes back to the product, the PU which his engineers can't redesign on the spot that's not their job
(Sorry Mclaren fan here seeing George get the smallest taste of what we've dealt with all season)
But that also my point, all the customer teams are having issues (but for that we also have to factor that theyāre running on different software, chassis, etc.) yet George is on the main team with the most info and only his car is breaking down.
While Kimi may get hit in the future, it would make sense to put effort into figuring it out now before it takes out both cars. And it takes into question the leadership and management of the team.
Now Iām am new and binged the 2025 season before 2026 started, but I meant to add McLaren into this. Where even last year when āpapaya rulesā were at play (whether or not I agree with that) at least both cars were working for the most part; it just came down to racing and strategy for that team. The team was competent enough to make the fight about something else, hence the overblown drama, other than the car impacting only one driver. (this may be wrong as again Iām lacking a lot context outside the races)
P.S. donāt worry anon, during my catch up I saw a lot from McLaren fans so I have no hard feelings lol
