Messing up a boys order on a random day
Your hair was unwashed, tangled and overall neglected. Having thrown it into a bun so many times it grew dry, and brittle.
You’d been working, and doing overtime to get your mind off the heart break you were going through. It didn’t help you were going through it and having to deal with work, school and your boss all together.
Rude customers topped it all off. If you weren’t already feeling so pathetic the customers really helped.
“I didn’t order this! I ordered it with three pumps-three! Do your dam job kid!” An old lady, who was probably on the brink of being divorced, pink lipstick and a bad blonde bob was waving the drink in your face as you could only hold in a sigh.
“I’m sorry Miss..” you mumbled. You couldn’t even muster up the typical apology, you’d only hoped she’d ask for your manager so they could deal with the situation.
“Who even would order this?-what if I was allergic and you gave me the wrong drink!!” The sence she was causing was now causing the line to back up causing people to groan behind her.
Running off a coffee and about 3 hours of sleep your vision blurred. Being yelled at like this, it felt humiliating. All eyes were glued onto you. Probably ridiculing you. Giving someone a distinctly different order, how incompetent.
“I’m sorry Miss, we’ll have your order ready soon..” you reassured.
After that you tried harder to focus, you’d been making mistakes all week, and you were already on thin ice with your boss.
Your eye bags were prominent as you rung up orders, no tips ment no money, and as if to add onto the orders you were understaffed, and already under paid.
A spikey haired boy was the last order of the day it seemed, as business had slowed down. He said nothing as he showed you his receipt.
Your vision was fogged ever so slightly as you fought it off, you’d get some sleep soon. If you could stop thinking about how much your bedsheets smelled like your ex boyfriend.
“8.89” you mumbled handing him the drink.
He took it before glancing at it. His dark blue eyes looked at you.
“Uh…I ordered a black coffee..” his voice was smooth and deep.
And you’d given him somthing completely different, an iced latte. That was all anyone was ordering today. You felt like the gods above were simply mocking you.
You were prepared for him to yell or get upset and storm away. You didn’t want to end the shift with an upset customer. So your mouth moved before your words could.
“I-uhm sorry about that sir, I’ll give you your correct order free of charge..” you mumbled shuffling to the back.
He didn’t get a chance to reply. His brow cocked ever so slightly. Before watching you shuffle your way to the back to make the drink.
‘Understaffed’ he noted to himself. This coffee shop was somewhat old, and many workers had quit. But he came here on weekends to study, less people ment less noise. And the drinks were decent.
So watching you do all this made him feel kinda bad.
You shuffled towards him, with your strained apron, uniforms collar crinkling to the side as you carefully handed him his black coffee.
“Here-as promised free of charge-“
“There’s no need” he cut you off
Oh god he was upset wasn’t he. Can you blame him? Who gives such a simple order wrong?
Before you could mentally degrade yourself he handed you the money. His expression was so..bland? His eyes on the money.
“Keep the change..” he nodded to you as you blinked. Your first dam tip all day..
“Oh,thank you..!” You said, the first real smile lifting on your face as he turned around and walked away.
Your eyes never left him, even as he left. He had two large dogs with him, one white, and another black. You watched as he rubbed their heads,. Uniting them from the pole as they toted away.
Huh, strangely your shift felt more..worth it?
“Name! Help me close shop why don’t you?” Your co worker barked as they tossed their apron else where.
“But it’s not my turn! I’m not on the clock!” You protested wanting nothing more but then to go home and cry.
“You gonna complain or help?” He asked. “Literally what else are you doing?”
“No!”
It was your first time refusing like that. To do over time you wouldn’t be paid for. And it left you relived. You were already feeling horrible why would you want to do over time?
As you laid in your strong scented bed you rolled over with a groan. You let the tears run down your face-because what else could you do? Nothing. Besides suck it all up.
It was only Monday, and you had work tomorrow..again..
The first customer you got was the same bitchy old woman who swore up and down you were unfit for your position.
“You gonna get my order wrong again?” She fussed crossing her arms. You were internally groaning. If she knew there was a chance why would she even come back?!
“No Ma’am!” You cheerily said handing her what she had already ordered before making the sassy remark.
“Did you make this? Ya know I want-“
“Three pumps yes!” You cut her off wanting nothing more than for her to get the fuck out of the store.
“I didn’t get my straw!-“
“You got your order can’t you just get out?” A voice spoke up from behind her. The same spikey haired boy from yesterday. With two others next to him.
“Yeah, your holding up the line I have places to be” the girl with the bob spoke up. Using her thumb to motion to the door.
The lady, clearly only dead set on bothering you gave no fuss only clicking her teeth as she walked out.
You let out a sigh for a moment before collecting yourself once again.
“Hi welcome, what can I get you three?” You asked the trio.
“One black-“
“Oo! Can I have a jelly donut and one glazed?” The pinkie next to him spoke before the brown haired girl next to him awed
“Oh oh! Me two but one vanilla sprinkle!” She said.
“Eww sprinkle?” The pinkie fake gagged making the girl glared.
“You’re getting a JELLY filled donut, you’re sickening!” She countered.
“Well fushiguro is paying” he shrugged looking at the spikey haired boy who looked beyond irritated.
“One black coffee please?” He said through gritted teeth.
“Okay, coming right up!” You smiled accepting his cash. The register clunked with coins as you opened it to give him his change, but he held his hand out to stop you.
“Keep the change” was all he said before walking out of the line making you blink. His friends trailed behind him.
So fushiguro was his name huh..
As you made their drinks and packed their orders you wrote on his cup, which you rarely did.
“Enjoy fushiguro! <3”
As you pondered it felt, somewhat invasive? You didn’t know him and wouldn’t have known his name had it now been exposed by his friend.
Well the sharpie was already on the cup..great.
So to not make it weird you wrote cute doodles on the friends cup. A Kirby on the pinkies cup, and a heart with a “yummy!” On it for the brown haired girls.
“Name! There’s something wrong with the machine!” Your annoying coworker called. Have he no mind of his own. Why did he always call you for minor issues?
“Coming….” You mumbled shuffling to the back.
meanwhile as megumi picked up his and his friends ordered he went back to sit at their table.
Yuji quickly snatched his donuts as he awed at the food-as per usual.
“Eat it with your mouth not your eyes”
“That sounds DUMB kugisaki.”
Megumi held the cup in his hands as his friends bickered over nothing
“Enjoy fushiguro! <3”
His eyes gazed over the writing before sipping his drink anyways, not sparing another thought. But somthing just told him this wouldn’t be the last time he’d come to this small short staffed store.
He could get black coffee anywhere, but he’d probably come back here. It wasn’t far from campus, and the girl severing was sweet.
And she made his coffee just right.
