ellie - i got the impression that you didn't really like her.

shannon - i don't.

dina - i don't care about her one way or the other.

like it was a choice to make nora black, to make nora the one ellie chases relentlessly through the hospital, to make nora the one ellie horrifically and traumatically tortures. i was so completely uncomfortable during this part.

nora is an exceptionally interesting case bc she’s the only one that gets explicitly tortured on screen. and like, there was no reason that nora needed to be black. but somehow that was a choice that was made and kept, and whether it was purposeful or not still leads to huge implications in terms of power and race in the game and ultimately upholds white supremacist ideals

and the fact that no black character makes it out alive is the very reason that the whole “it’s the post apocalypse, everyone dies” argument is invalid, and inherently racist. the only thing that would make this argument valid is if the objectivity of violence is portrayed in game, but it’s not. nearly every white character lives while black (and poc as a whole) die at more disproportionate rates
