Joel told Ellie to keep finding something to fight for. Anna told Ellie life is worth living & to find her purpose. Both parents frame purpose around living rather than dying.
In my opinion, Ellie's arc in part 3 should be about finally accepting that her life has inherent value than dying for a hypothetical cure that would eventually be used as a bargaining chip in an eventual turf war between the Fireflies and groups like the Hunters, Rattlers, FEDRA remnants, Seraphites remnants and Cannibal cults like David's people.
