For this year, I want to hear YOUR suggestions and ideas for the prompt list! I’ve created them myself for the last few years (with help from a handful of people) but this year i’ve decided I want to have more ideas from the fandom and what people want to see included on the list!

So, on the link provided, please submit at least two prompts that you would like to see on this years list! You can submit as many responses as you like and up to 5 prompts per response until the middle of September. After this time I will close the form and decide which prompts will be included and the official list will release in the final week of September.

La Belle Jardinere 1896

like the way he's positioned as potentially the most morally "correct" character of the book (serving as the guide to les amis who are already described as paragons of idealism doing the right thing, frequently expressing the same beliefs as hugo himself) and yet his actions are usually in direct opposition to these moral beliefs (fighting on the barricade when he prefers pacifism, grabbing the bullets gavroche gathered, forgetting his own mother when he pleads for others to think of theirs,) (except when he's discussing with one of les amis where he acts as a moderating force, and when he tries to help a soldier which is when he dies,) perfectly adding to the central message of how the state of society forces desperate people to do terrible things even against their morals, but this time from the angle of needing to do so not for personal survival but for the sake of Progress.

Like, I don't think it'll be good. I think I'll have to put it in the D-tier. It looks so bad.

Ok, like with reviews, positives first:

they're showing Javert's childhood.

Onto the bad things!

Like, it's so colorless and desaturated. I know it's not exactly a happy, joyful story but the world is so full of color even in the darkest moments, so why can't we have a little life in our movies?

Then there's the fact that it's an adaptation inspired by The Fugitive... which I heard is already based on Les Mis... Granted, I haven't watched that movie but I have a really bad feeling about Action Thriller LM.

Also Fred Cavayé said in an interview that he only decided to make the movie because the 2024 Count of Monte Cristo movie was as well recieved as it was. Now, I really really like that movie. I really cannot overstate how much I like this movie. And yet. I have a bad feeling about this statement. I can't put into words why I feel this way, it's just a vibe. (Also also the guy who played Albert plays Marius)

Now, this will be the first full story adaptation of LM since the 2012 Tom Hooper movie (yes, we've had the JVJ 2025 movie but it only covers like 15 chapters), so my expectations are through the roof. And yet.
