men need to STOP starting podcasts and START forming barbershop quartets. NOW.

an interesting change that i understand making but i dont think i like: the starblaster crew can't escape their current reality without the light of creation and the hunger consumes the world even when they escape with it. i think i prefer the podcast where finding the light means that the world gets attacked but ultimately the hunger retreats, and only consumes the world if the light is still there, but they can escape regardless. the change makes their quest to find the light each year more about personal survival, while in the original version it was for the greater good/improving their chances against the hunger. yeah it raises the immediate stakes but the focus of the stolen century isn't on surviving each cycle!! we gloss over that (almost) entirely!! we don't need high stakes!

#i speak #and it doesnt fix the plot hole of 'why dont they just leave' because barry gives an explanation for that: they need the right conditions #(and those only happen when the hunger draws near)#<- i really like that explanation. its really good #ok critique no. 1 is done. back to reading and feeling emotions #taz graphic novel
