A list of things I have learned from doing welfare calls for covid patients in the UK.
The symptoms and side effects are so diverse and effect people so differently that it's scary af.
The list of symptoms is WAY longer than even I can remember.
Warped consciousness and warped reality IS A SYMPTOM (I'm still personaly suffering from that a month on)
People are so so so happy for someone just showing a little bit of actual human kindness that it breaks my heart.
Younger people (16 - 25) are less affected as a whole but if they get symptoms they tend to get the really bad ones.
Fatigue, muscle ache and depressed moods are effecting people far longer and far worse than most of the symptoms on the list.
Middle aged men will tell you they are fine because they dont want people to worry about them, we know you're not, David! You sound like your fighting for your life, call an ambulance!
Elderly people that receive our calls are so excited to talk to a younger person (or anyone at all) and I think we need more ways for young and older people to connect to stop loneliness.
People that are A-symptomatic will be so fucking rude to you checking on them.
It's hard talking to suffering people, sometimes I want to check in on them but once they leave our screens we cant and not knowing if someone is better now is very hard on a lot of us.
The government system we use is as fucked as our government. Take me to the office, I'll fix it.
